The way he plays with Morrissey it is a good signing. Now lets hope Samberg is what he is expected to be then the Jets could have 5 solid d-men with Pionk and Poolman. Room for Niku and Heinola. No more signing 7/8 d-men just because they're good in the room because Maurice will play them ahead of the younger players.

have to admit, I have some good optimism right now!!
-there are numerous solid depth players available, some decent UFA's and not a ton of teams with cap space to sign them
-I think teams are being patient with not bailing out the cap strapped teams like Tampa and Vegas so what does that mean? I thought Columbus did a great job today clearing cap space to protect themselves against a PLD offer sheet, Tampa and NYI must be a little worried about that???
-there are a ton of teams in the free agent goalie market, gives us more time to talk to others.

just don't over pay chevy or let anyone off the cap hook for free!! and Don't be in rush to sign Hamonic!!!!!

Chevy overpay ?....almost never happens. You can relax on any fear of that. Chevy is a pike in the weeds.

Always wonder what TB is going to do. Real cap hell!

Could see then putting Stamkos on LTIR to fit their key free agent in like Sergachev, Cernak and Cirelli. If, not possible, would be glad to take the RFA's off their hands. Would buy the Bolts some time to figure things out with the Stamkos move.

Who knows, maybe Stamkos is allergic to his equipment?

Alexander Wennberg is a player the Jets should pursue as well.

Yeah he never does that. Those Little, Mason and Pavelec contracts are the exception and not the rule.

I have no idea why and have not heard a single thing to justify this but I think the jets will sign and yes, over pay Torey Krug tomorrow.

They want the power play QB.

Well anyway, predicting Hamonic or Stastny seems easy. So I’ll go out in this limb. Lol

Wennberg and Krug - would make me a happy fan!

But would also like them them to add two pieces of cheap muscle - 4th liner and 7th/8th d-man. Never have too many d-men. Then we're set to go!

But if we trade Laine, (not likely) think tomorrow is the day.

Wheeler. Probably Pionk soon, too.

Right about Pionk Rexypoo. He was on pace for 50 points and can get that again if he stays on the number 1 PP next year. That will guarantee him being the highest paid dman for the Jets

I hope he overpays a little for Krug. I miss the likes of Buff and Myers on that 1st and 2nd PP unit. A guy like Krug would really help rectify that situation and put us back into PP heyday.

The thing about all of the players I listed here is that they are all universally better than any of the available free agents with “big” or “tough” listed as a top attribute

What point are you making?

You do realize that both Dallas and Tampa were both in the top 5 NHL teams for height and weight (I guess what you’d call big)
And the last 5 cup champs were all also all in that top 5.

But my main point is you need a team
Of balance. No team off all small super skilled teams have ever won a cup nor has a team all tall huge guys.

But why do keep bringing up “big” or “tough”. It’s like you’d prefer small fast and skilled over big fast and skilled??? Why??

Maybe, but:
Krug, Morrissey, DeMelo, Pionk, Poolman - yes
Samberg and Heinola - one or both start with Moose?
Niku - trade bait in my books
Dahlstrom - Moose or waived
And who's going to be the first one hurt?

IMO could use another.

It’s so funny to me this whole rage in social media about small vrs big guys in hockey.

Like during the draft if a team drafted a big tough guy it was automatically assumed they over rated him and he has zero skill or hockey sense. These people get so mad if a smaller skilled guy gets under valued while having no clue they could be doing the same thing to the big guy.

Leafs loved it when they drafted Bracco a few years ago because “he fell” in the draft cause he was small, but he had soooo much skill and brains they said. Update, the Leafs did not qualify bracco. They no longer value that so called tremendous skill in a small package I guess.

Bracco can’t skate. They drafted him for the right reasons, and he just never got to where they expected

So how is that different than a bigger guy not developing as hoped?

Maybe "better" but not as a group. Not one of these guys is going to clear the front of the net or drop his gloves should he have too - unless it's Sandberg. On any successful "team" you need a mixture of skill and sandpaper.

I don't want to see us run out of the building like the Flames did to us in the playoffs last season. Your 1st line captain should not be the only one to stand up and be counted when need arises.

So therefore I feel a guy like Borowiecki, Gudas or someone similar is needed at playoff time, if not before. Too bad Dillon re-signed, he would have been perfect.

Now if we were to trade for a guy like Ryan Reaves, that would greatly help our team. "Take liberties with our team, you're talking to me."

We don't need more skill on our team, as currently construed, but do need some grit - at least two players, that big and tough, tough being the key word here.
