A flyer on Wennberg.

Thoughts on trading for Stepan? Sounds like OEL won't be moved and seems like the Yotes want to shed salary. Right handed center, only one year left on his deal.

Markstrom or Krug, I guess would be a surprise, right? Otherwise its gonna be Vets who will bring something back at the Deadline.

Namestnikov?
Soderberg?
Alzner?

I'd go to guys and say, if you sign with us and mentor some guys for 45ish games, or however many before the deadline, you can basically pick your contender and we'll do what we can to get you there. Wings fill roster spots and then gain assets.

I said before I'd love to take fliers on Wennberg and Stecher. After that, anyone who will get picks in the 2-4 round range. Keep money open to take on a contract with a sweetner at the deadline, if nothing comes along during this period first. Shouldnt be an issue.

I think Jon Merrill could be a Nemeth like signing as well.

Friedman is linking Krug to Detroit! But why Stevie???

Apparently he thinks his team will compete sooner.

Pietrangelo “beef” with STL is over bonuses. Owners not allowing near as much in bonus $ across the league

Some boring but competent two-way, middle-sixish wingers I would not be unhappy to sign include Nick Cousins and Dominik Kahun. Duclair interests me for his offensive ability even though his defense is atrocious. Basically an upgraded Fabbri or Athanasiou.

Seems like there are a lot of good budget wingers out there but I'm much less impressed by what's available at center, unfortunately. Not sure what's happened to Wennberg ... he's only 26 but it seems like he peaked very very early. Turris also seems to have really declined hard the last couple of years. Could take a flyer on either but not super optimistic about either. Might need to look into a trade to try to deal with the hole at 2C.

Stecher I think would be a great pickup on D. He's a right-handed shot, which might actually be needed in the short term if Seider stays overseas. Koekkoek would be an okay lefty pickup I think. Or just throw a fat contract offer at Sergachev and pay the picks next year, maybe.

Talbot or Greiss in goal.

If I recall Wennberg had a really really good playoffs a few years ago and got the big extension. Then he had a Concussion I think and when he came back just wasnt close to the same player. A damn shame too because he looked like a guy who was headed for a real good career. Still pretty young. Hopefully the change ofnscenery helps him rediscover the confidence, whether that's with us in Detroit or whereever.

I’d take him. Just my opinion. Our center position would get a bit better
