Anthony Travalgia: As Torey Krug signs with Blues, Bruins re-sign Kevan Miller…more to come? As the Bruins re-signed defenseman Kevan Miller, Torey Krug signed a 7-year contract with the St. Louis Blues.

Hard to know or understand the back room in’s and outs but I have a feeling Krug thought a bigger pay day was gonna be there for him. Hard to believe he is gonna leave town for 1 more year of term if Bos offered him 6 and 6.5... crazy!

Torey Krug with a shot across the bow. No idea why he would leave for one more year. Guess something something didn’t go well in negotiation

I can think of 6.5 million reasons why he chose to leave...

Don't think he was worth the $6.5M so I wish him well, time to move on.

As a Blues fan I think it is a good signing for St Louis. Petro was wanting 9 million plus// eight years from St Louis, Signing bonus money upfront and no movement, I think his agent over played his hand. Petro married a St Louis girl, just had their fourth child, I can not believe he really wanted to leave St Louis over a few million dollars, he was just coming off a $ 45 million deal, likely sign for a appx $60 deal, just to uproot your family for 4-5 over eight years. Krug is almost 2 years younger, put up about the same points, and although smaller build , a tougher player, and signed for seven years, St Louis not having to go eight, and 2.5 million less.

It's sounding like the Bruins $6.5M for 6 has been out there for a while, maybe even the beginning of the season. It also sounds like it was a best and final that Krug's camp didn't bite on figuring they could get more. Don't know if Bruins told them but I think they had in their mind that if the deal wasn't signed before free agency started it was always going to be pulled as they would then know exactly where they stood, cap wise, to go after other targets.

Love Krug, but if means David Krejci might have some real players on his wingers, the team is better off.

Krug is saying he didn’t see an offer in about a year. I really am not a fan of how this was handled on both sides. It was reported a deal for 6.5 was on the table last week, so who do you believe?

What do you have an agent for? Would the agent have not talked to Don yesterday and say Torey will stay for 6.5 per?
In the end perhaps Don didn’t really want Krug. I know many people didn’t want Krug for that kind of money. My fingers are crossed Don has something up his sleeve.

I just hope it’s not another underwhelming move, which he seems to excel at.

So Duck,Go ahead and sign Pietrangelo for $10 million a year for 7 years and see how that works for you. The last Blues captain you sign worked out real well for you. Give me Krug at 6.5 and sign Dunn, along with have money to resign Parayko when his deal comes up.

Is Krug thought of as not tough?

When Blues fans think of Pieterangelo's toughness they think of Jamie Benn sitting on top of him which became a meme of sorts.

When we think of Krug we think of him destroying Thomas in the playoffs last year with that charge.

For the record, I think AP is definitely the better player, but 6.5 seems pretty reasonable for Krug as an alternative to AP.
