The more I think about this the more I like it. We now can ice two very strong scoring lines and with the addition of another center even a strong scoring third line. Maybe Saad scores 50 points this year, maybe he doesn't. If he doesn't, he moves on the following year and we have more flexibility with the Landeskog and Makar contracts. The writing was on the wall with Z anyhow, and for all those bone crunching hits that we love he was prone to at least one or two bone headed mistakes. He's a third pairing guy on this team, and maybe on Chicago too.

I think we have a hole on defense now. Timmins is probably one hit away from retirement, and being replaced by Connauton in the playoffs didn't inspire me. Maybe Byram is ready. Even if he's a world beater in year one, which isn't likely, we still lack some depth there in case of injuries. It's too bad Stecher is already gone, I'd have liked to sign someone like him.

I think it’s time to trade Jost for a defensemen. With Saad coming in and Kaut potentially making the roster we have plenty of forward depth. Give it another season and Newhook will be ready as well

Yeah, that's a plan especially if they are sold on JTC at 3C. I'm not really to be honest, he didn't have the best playoffs and I'd rather shift him to the wing but then like I said before we'd need another 3C.

I think Sakic's banking on Saad being re-energized, playing for a talented, contending club again. He's got everything a team would want. Size, speed, scoring touch, defensive awareness. . . . His experience in the post-season sure won't hurt!

Saad and Kadri could make for a very nice matchup line to roll out after the big-3. I think this is a nice move for Colorado as a contingency to Hall not working out (assuming that's what this move signals).

I like Z and what he brings more than most Avs fans but even I'm okay with this. Granted if Bowman had any plan at all he'd have asked for futures and we'd have gotten Saad for a pick or a B prospect or some combo thereof. I have no issue with offering a 2nd for Zadorov. Or futures plus Saad(for cap reasons) for Kane.

This is an incredible trade for us.

I had Zadorov’s value pegged for something like a 2nd. To be able to get a top 6 winger is huge. We have a ton of flexibility with line combos.

Can you imagine being up a goal with a minute left in the playoffs and rolling a Landy-Kadri-Saad line out to ice the game?

Love it.
