Good lord. Patrick Marleau was finished over two years ago. Now it’s getting embarrassing

$700K is fine for those 2. Would like to see one more guy with some potential scoring upside added to the top 9 i.e. Duclair or Galchenyuk

I actually feel bad for Sharks fans. That team has no plan. If you’re going to rebuild, do it. They make this weird bunch of moves that leave them somewhere in no man’s land.

I Agree, Doug Wilson never has a plan. He has a man crush on both Marleau & Thornton & they didn't win the cup at a younger age & DW brings Marleau back. I think he wants to keep the fans interested in the team. I gave my season tickets up years ago watching the SOS Buffalo Bills of Hockey.

At this point though, it's not like Marleau really hurts the rebuild phase. I doubt he scores so much as to win them games. He would be a great guy to have around if they actually had some more high end forward prospects coming up. I could see him sticking around with the organization in some capacity after he retires which will probably be soon. Maybe he just wanted to finish the last season of his career with the sharks?

Meh. Marleau's fine for the third line. He's an improvement over Sorensen who was possibly the worst forward on the team (say what you will about Melker - he at least played great on the PK).

As far as a "plan" goes. I wouldn't say there wasn't a plan.... It seems pretty obvious - last season's plan was to resign Karlsson, and pray that a couple of the rookies come in and make an impact, that Labanc continues to improve, that Jones remembers how to stop pucks and that everyone stays healthy.

Clearly not a GOOD plan....but I can see a "plan" there.

Seems pretty obvious he wants to pass Gordie for the All Times Games Played record.
Gordie: 1767
Marleau: 1723

That's a pretty long standing record and I think helps put him in talk for HOF, where he's kind of borderline.

This is awesome news! Marleau is a class act, and I was sad to see Nieto go. Happy fan!
