Don Sweeney is acting like Marc Bergevin, an on the fly blue print.

Hoffman would help, so would have Hall. Ultimately the D needs to improve to win a Stanley Cup and that’s the bottom line.
If Don can’t bring in a top pairing Dman and a 2nd line RW, Bruins are toast. They are still are very good team but just don’t have the goods for a cup IMO.

Exactly, as I've said, they are built as a great regular season team but not built for winning the Cup unless a multitude of pieces fall into place like what happened in 2019. They had a shot but even then, the Blues were better built for the Cup.

Just my opinion:
* Trade for OEL for Prospect & Pick & Moore
* Pass on K. Millar
* Craig Smith 👍
* Sign Z 1 yr 1 mil
* Sign Simmonds 1 yr deal,
if that didn’t pan out Kovalchuk for 700k.
* Trade Ritchie for a coaches whistle
* Trade Bjerk for new water bottles
* Sign Gryz 2.25
* Sign Debrusk 3.25

I think that improves the team. Adds top pairing D, and improves toughness with Simmonds or secondary scoring very cheaply. Not ideal brining in a washed Kovalchuk, but a 1 yr league minimum deal isn’t much risk.

I would rather them do nothing and let Studnicka/Beecher round out the roster than entertain washed up Simmonds, Kovalchuk or Perry. Ritchie can take a hike.

IMO, Bjork is going to have a break out year. Whether it is here or elsewhere. So will Heinen.

Simmonds adds some grit which they need. Bjork is a plug in my opinion. Bye!

Fair enough promoting within is an option to add secondary scoring and look at someone else at the trade deadline.

Didn't Simmonds already sign with the Leafs?

I think it's Stud and Fredrick at this point, don't think Beecher is ready yet. But yeah, I agree.

And Fredrick's got some nasty to his game...something we've been missing.

I like Miller and I'm rooting for him. He's the last semblance to Darth Quader we have and we are sorely missing...

Simmonds grit is gone, man. Don’t worry about missing out on that.

He was one of my favorite players the past 10 years, and it’s sad to see the game pass him by.

It’s not just his scoring. His tough play is down in general. Maybe you get a little leadership from him, but you guys already seem to have that in spades. Wouldn’t be worth payin him to be a healthy scratch

Anthony Travalgia: Surgeries and a lackluster offseason in Boston
It's been an offseason to forget for Don Sweeney and the Bruins.

No need to force things with OEL. His contract is a massive risk. The offseason isn't over, and there is still an underrated puck-moving D likely to sign a low risk contract. Still available:
Vatanen
Dadanov
Hoffman
Duclair
Athanasiou
Off-season ain't over yet boys.

It sure isn't over yet! Huge moves by the Bruins today! (here's hoping Zboril is a sign and trade...)

Could be worse.... your team could sign Jake Allen to 5.75 over 2 years. lol

Considering another $2M came off the books today, I would say that pretty much eliminates Hoffman and possibly others.

not totally sure how that works. (2) of them are 2 way deals. Zboril isn’t. I assume that means the 700k goes against the cap.

Those contracts are two way so they wont be on the big roster.

Yeah not sure either on the two way deals. In any case they are down to basically $10M at best with Debrusk, Gryz, and Z yet to sign (assuming they are bringing Z back).

The NESN article claims $750k cap hit for Zboril and $700k cap hit each for the other two. I don't claim to know how these types of contracts impact the cap but just relaying what NESN is saying. Zboril's contract isn't listed as two way (it very well may be though).
