This is an argument that won't end. The preference for hard nosed players and the disdain for softer skill players has been made crystal clear. The bias of the conservation will never be overcome. This is a dead end road.

Girgensons plays hard, is not very intimidating, Sam puts up a lot more points and is also not intimidating. I'd say we should move on, but we won't.

- TheSabresTaco

I'll move on from discussing girgs with you, there's 4 other dudes ready to take your spot.

Arbitration is different from UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENCY.

The Sabres paid a player what they thought was. Necessary for him to not hit ufa status.

And the sammers cant help bringing up his name again.

Now your comparing sam and girgs.

Based on girgs last year/ goals - sam should have 36 goals for 6.6 million. 3 x girgs $.

Jeff Skinner is more likely to stick up for a teammate than ZG. Jeff Skinner will mix it up, chirp and antagonize. I'd like to see ZG play tougher

Usually he will adjust his bucket after he misses a hit and then smile all the way back to the bench.

- jcragcrumple

I would like to see every sabre play tougher.

Past players as well - evane rodpussez for example

It's just kind of embarrassing that Skinner is tuffer. Zemgus will at least have some protection and tuffness on his line with Lazar now

The way I read things around here...

Just agree that BOSS is 100% right and we can move on!!

Then again, he'd probably start arguing with himself!!

But he only scored 2 more goals than Girgs and Girgs plays D and kills penalties, is a somewhat skilled checker.

Skinner is probably tougher than girgs. Like that about skins.
Pound for pound definitely.
That's all I really want.

Unless you're a real star, a Sabres players with less ability shouldn't need someone on their line to "protect " them.

Girgs is tuff enough. The nhl has evolved from fighting for the most part.

You clearly didnt (self admittedly) watch the nhl playoffs.
It was super tuff hard hitting action

50 checks in the 1st period of one of the Stanley cup games if I'm not mistaken?
Twice as many hits then an average regular season game.

- I appreciated your youth hockey summary.
Btw

I bet you tried hard, you would have been a great teammate. You have a competitive spirit Evane.
Playing above your ability......

You have a strong animosity toward two players on the 2nd most effective line on the team last year. Okposo and Girgs. Larsson definitely didn't drive the bus himself.

I just like antagonizing Boss about the truculent Mr. Girgensons

That wasn’t JUST to you
It was a general post for all

EVERY team in the league has “overpaid” players
Beating to death Girgs’ paycheck is MORONIC

Trade of Sam is fully dependent on the return...I don't see a team doing that until Sam re-signs before or after Arb.
But, assuming they did, then sure.
Hoffman would get more than Dadnov's $5.0m x 3 ... so maybe +15%...$5.75sh x 3

- IonSabres

Ok so $5.75 ish for x 3 for Hoffman.

Now what’s reasonable for a return?

I guess we do have to see what the rfa(s) get so we know what cap space we are dealing with.

I don’t mind Sam at all but if you replace his production with Hoffman and use him as a piece to right the d and/or tendy, I think you need to think about it. Does a Hannifin + deal make sense? Of course this doesn’t take into account the chemistry jack and Sam have and could you plug and play a Hoffman with him....

There is still a right d that needs to be traded, maybe 2 and I don’t really want to see Monte playing his off wing.

Curious to get the RFAs signed and keep this
Train rolling.

I wonder if the Sabres allow Cozens to play in the WJC this December.

Could possibly see Cozens, Quinn, Peterka, Johnson, Portillo all perform in Edmonton.

my guess is any prospect with a realistic shot to make the sabres for 20-21 season, will not be allowed to play in tourney

So today a 4th liner should score 25+ points
Yesterday, 4th liners should be paid just the minimum?

75+ points for 2.1 million for a whole 4th line.

I now see how you think girgs is overpaid.
Makes more sense. 😉

- Boss34

Bold = ?
Rest = Yup.
Those are, in fact, targets. Good ones I might argue
Not everyone get there though...Puts & Takes

Bolts 4th line (although changed around, Gourde spent some time there, Johnson played up in PO's):
Maroon (23pts / $900k)
Paquette (18 pts / $1.65m)
Johnson (31 pts / $5.0m)
Avg 24 pts / $ 2.55m

I’d honestly feel much better with the almost $4.5M in cap space and still two holes to fill in the bottom 6 if it were up to me.

Where does Tage fit, are they gonna try Cozens at 2RW. Does Asplund or Rousto make the team.

2 more goals, 10 less games

One person had their highest career shooting %

The other had their career worst shooting %

I'm not great at proposing specific trade targets...but a 1RW should be able to get some talent here...now the flip side will be his AAV in a Covid era will make moving him more difficult.
That said, I'd love go get Dahlin's long term partner in house.
Hopefully, the two 2RhD's from the 4 they have can then be moved for a 2LhD and a Goalie

I think it comes down to if they roll 4 lines or not

my guess is cozens and tage are on the wing to start the season

casey-eakin-tage
girgens-lazar-okposo

I could see eakin drop to 4th center and rieder or girgens on third line lw
