Ullmark went to arbitration last year too. He signed after the hearing but before the award. Not sure if that makes him more or less likely to do it again

I've heard from a few NHL writers (legit ones) that arbitrators cannot take the current COVID-related cap freeze and economic hard times into account - it's strictly business as usual when deciding on awards.

Makes me think most teams will be scrambling to sign guys before the verdict is read.

That would certainly be incentive for players to go through with it. Im sure GMs are calling agents and saying "id love to give you x, but weee're poooooor now"

You dont have the slightest clue what they are doing with those three. Therefore you do not know if it is or is not happening.
- Mentalorgasm5

You're right, can only go off the information at hand.

He managed to sign the least important one in Montour, and the rest we've heard zilch on.

It’s a reoccurring organizational failure to ever get team friendly long term deals.

Dahlin, Jokiharju, Olofsson, Ullmark, Reinhart. You can’t get 1-2 of those 5 signed to a deal that might look excellent 2-3 years down the road?

It takes two to tango, but I agree. This team never has value contracts. They need to take a chance on someone. I guess they did with Tage but I dont have lofty expectations there

I think Tage could be a value contract but it’s like 50/50 at best.

For once I’d like for them to get their poop together

These were the obvious things that Botterill was supposed to be good at and he completely didn’t do poop. He just bridged everyone

And before people just shout COVID

Gryzlyk
LeBanc
Kubalik
Anderson
Gallagher

And plenty others all signed RFA deals with term

unlike seasons prior, if i'm not mistaken once it goes to the arbiter, there can be no contract signed until after his decision

I think we're gonna get killed. Injuries, our bad D, plus it seems like we always lay an egg on these national spotlight games.

Yeah I dont have a good feeling either but last year they were decent in prime time. The win against Pitt and turkey day against the cowboys.

I don't know, I usually don't pick anything Bill's wise, I think we get the job done today. Think Bill's walk out with a Win.

i really don't know what they were thinking with girgensons' deal
- Michael Pachla

Maybe:

Guy was 5th on his team in goal scoring. On a goal starved team.
All 19 points were even strength/ sh
Guy outplayed his current contract
Guy kills penalties and plays hard defensive minutes
One of a handful of players who outplayed / outscored his expectations
Guy is homegrown talent who wants to play for ralph/ buffalo
Guy is exactly what the "new vision" sabres are looking for. Hardworking, doesn't take alot of bad penalties, almost 500 game gritty nhl veteran.
Bought out ufa years
Ufa that was signed prior to the opening of free agency always cost more.

Its everything a fan would want.

Again, when the Sabres are good, everyone is gonna like girgs again. ( with the exception of crags)

He autographed my hat. So that was nice of him.

Here's to hoping he shoots 14% again!

All points taken. Just think the contract is too high. Especially on a multi year deal
