I agree with 80% of the post, the exception being your first paragraph.

When teams are playing a lot of zone then he would need to find the seams in the zone and a majority of them are within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage.

Crossing routes, quick ins, hooks that all require the receivers settling in spots.

Teams are forcing Allen to revert to the checkdowns, and until the Bills find success in the checkdown game teams will continue to force them to have to beat them with the running and short passing game.

Last night his average yards per attempt was 4.5 yards...almost half of what he was prior to the Titans game...that's awful

I think better run blocking up front would help too.

He is often forced to make one guy miss even before he gets back to the line of scrimmage.

I think that’s a combination of scheme and personnel that they will have to get fixed.

- Pegullaville

Yeah that is sort life without a fullback.

Yeldon is more north to south running. Singletary is not that guy. Singletary likes to bounce

Need Feliciano back and hopefully Spain can get healthy. Ford and Winters just don't do it at G

Asked my brother (Dolphins fan, as is my dad 🙄), and he's got no answer.

Hopefully it backfires on Flores.

Exactly, if he poops the bed he looses the locker room with only being 1 game back

If Flores thinks his team is actually good then there's no point wasting more time with Fitz. Fitz has a ceiling and he's only going to get you so far. History suggests that doesn't include making the playoffs

To destroy the confidence of their future franchise QB, so that they can continue their 20 year legacy of poopiness.

It always bugs me that Fitz is so happy and upbeat after losses.

Quit smiling and paling around with players from the other team.

I can see the bills in need of a few players off this list... give me one of the TEs (ertz or njoku). The edge rusher from Washington, Kerrigan. The big Dt from the saints, Rankins and the LB from the jets, Williamson...

Of course there is no way they have the fire power (or cap space) to make all of that happen. But bean needs at least 1! If not 2 moves to right the ship...

Players under pressure always revert back to old mechanics and things that their bodies are just flat out used to. Its muscle memory.

Josh Allen has done that the last 2 games. He has sailed deepballs 10 ft too far JUST LIKE LAST YEAR.

The EASY Beasley drag route he missed yesterday in the 3rd quarter was down right awful.

Also Josh Allen absolutely sucks at reading zone coverage. Titans and Chiefs ran a ton of zones and cloud flats for dump offs. He does know how to torch man coverage aka good play calling my Daboli with certain routes that burn man coverage.

That's how harvard graduates communicate.

He's intelligent and realizes the game is over , and the game is played among former teammates.

In fitz case many teammates

Speaking of a player who has a way to go
Tyler Bass

From
30- 39 yerds 2 of 4
40 - 49 yrds 2 of 2
50+ yrds 0 of 1

That's 4 of 7 from 30+ yards.
I think that 52 yarder was closer to the sideline than the goal post...it was off the tv screen as soon as his foot hit it. Holy crap...I needed at 12Ft TV to see it, lol.
Seriously, not good enough.

Those 3 points would have looked good in the 4th qtr added to their 16 pts to keep it a 1 score game at the end.

Mechanics wise .... The only excuse I have for allen is when he hurt his left shoulder during the raiders game. That’s when the decline / reverting started.

What we saw was that Allen just hasn’t developed into an elite QB yet (even though he had an elite start to the season)
Allen: 14-27, 122yds, 2td 1int

We did the same thing to KC
And this is what REAL ELITE QBs do to zone defenses
Mahomes: 21-26, 225yds, 2td 0int
And he made just about every throw he needed
to last night

That doesn’t mean Allen can’t eventually get there
First 4 games this year shows us he has it in him
But the last 2 games also showed us that he’s still got a ways to go

Tough schedule coming up the rest of the year
I’d expect Allen to look really good some weeks,
and struggle a bit other weeks

Hopefully it’s a good learning process for him
And he can work on developing consistency against tough teams & their zone defenses

Also when we started playing better teams too though,
so maybe the shoulder is contributing
But the quality of opponent likely is as well

He threw one right into Norman’s hands that was dropped.

He overthrew one right over Kelce that was almost picked.

Threw one high to Hardman that went off his fingertips and almost picked

Threw one well behind Kelce on a third down that he made a spectacular catch on.

Mahomes was ok. No where near great or the reason KC won

I don’t think the Bills want to tip their hand to early in the season, nor do they want Allen taking too many hits in the running game, however they did show glimpses of gadget plays to be able to run the football in a variety of different ways to help get them some yardage on the ground and into more favourable down and distances.

There is honestly no way around it, if teams are going to continue to have their defenders play 10 yards off the scrimmage and sit back in a deep zone, the Bills will have to have some semblance of a running game or have a much better short yard passing game in order to open up the play action and/or open up the down field passing game.

I don't think KC's D was anything special nor do I think Allen struggles against certain coverages. The problem was that they just missed on 5 - 10 easy throws that absolutely would have changed the game.

🙂

You could have had the dallas jumbotron and it wouldnt have gone thru.

Bass hasnt cost us a game .... yet.

Tough spot, being that he was drafted, and is an asset.

Who's better and who's gonna have a minimum salary and future potential?

I think you give the kid a chance still.
