Okposo is making $6m on Larry duty. Reinhart will be north of $6 this year.

Id take Kane at $10.5 over that duo at $12+

So would every team in the league...including Chicago.

Oh yeah, return him to center and give Eichel the favorable L2 matchups. Smart
- jcragcrumple

Girgs
Eichel
Stahl
Eatkids

Gotta say that solves the 2c, 3c and 4c problems 🤔

Hall - girgs - pk88
Skinner- eichel - olofsson

Plan the parade

That's where the picks and prospects come in...

Theyre on a different time line. A 1st and 3rd round pick + Mitts and Samuelsson with Samson does more for them than the final 3 years of Kane, or for that matter, Okposo

honestly did anyone even have Staal on their radar?
- SabresFaninIndiana

Well, I don't want to be that guy, but I will.
Back in Nov-Dec I ran a list of C's in search of 2C targets and Staal kept sticking out as the perfect candidate. I mentioned it on here once and was given a proper response that Staal won't come here as he loved Minnesota and was destined to retire if they tried to trade him.
I do believe that to be true back then, but also hoped there could be even a remote chance...did NOT expect it to happen, no.

We'd be "stuck" with him for 3 years, coming off 84 points in 70 games last year, and 110 the year before
- jcragcrumple

What's his xGA/60 over 82 games at 22:15 ATOI EV though?

we’d be a two line team. No two line teams “go deep” with 0 flexibility to do anything else to the roster.

10+ to Kane
10 to Eichel
8-9 at least to Hall if he stays
9 to Skinner
Staal is here for one year and then maybe Cozens takes over. Then you’re searching for a RW2 with no $ to spend

If either of the two previous GM’s (or this one frankly) knew how to draft maybe we’d have in house cheap replacements. We don’t

Okposo, Reinhart, Samuelsson, Mittelstadt, a 1st and a 3rd

Is that in the ball park?

- jcragcrumple

The only people who see Reinhart as a 1st line winger are people on here, and other Sabres fans. Outside of here and that group, meaning the rest of the NHL and anyone who aren't a homer sees, check that, knows him to be at most a 2nd line winger without Jack.

So, would the Blackhawks take Okposo, a 2nd line winger, prospect, Mitts, 1st and a 3rd? Well, it is Stan Bowman.

We actually talked about going after Staal a few weeks before it happened on here. Gerbe was incorrectly arguing that Jordan would be a better 2C than Eric. That wasn't really based on a rumor, though. It was just people saying he would be a great fit for the stopgap 2C role. I don't think anyone thought it was actually a possibility, though.

Out of curiosity, how do you define a 1RW? There aren't 31 RWs in the NHL that are better than Reinhart. So do most teams just not have a 1RW?

Actual talent, is VO a first-line LW just because he's placed next to Jack?

It was a great question asked.
Rather than evading it, why not supply your " genius" to show just how awesome you are, in your own mind of course!

For me, recognizing the imbalance throughout the league of Left versus Right ... in wingers and Dmen:

- Generally speaking, a bonafide 1st liner should be in the neighborhood of 1.0 ppg...not all get there, it is a target for me though
- I would expect a bit less production from Righties vs Lefties, with C's a bit more...so, for a true 1st line with all three (3) positions producting...maybe is it something like
â–Ş1LW = 1.05 ppg (85+ pts),
â–Ş1C = 1.10 ppg (90+ pts),
â–Ş1RW = 00.90 ppg (75+/- pts)

I would dare say, that most NHL teams don't have that, with many going for 2 parts skill/talent and the 3rd part is more of a very good role player that enjoys success along the way...
alla Palat, Point, Kucherov, or Tavres, Marner, Kerfoot
And, of course, for Boss's benefit...Hall, Eichel, Girgensons , lol.

Sorry but some of the best answers are the simplest ones, especially on a site like this. Talent tells me who is the first-line talent. I hope you enjoyed your post but data and stats can be manipulated by others so how legit is that? Jack carries Sam very far so how skewed are his rogue stats? Sometimes you have to go with analytics about Sam which we have beaten to death and what we see, the eye test. Thank you for acknowledging my genius and I acknowledge your jealousy and I give you pitty if that what is what you are seeking

Your answer was not at all helpful and completely ignored the rest of my post. I know exactly as much after your response as I did before it.

It seems you aren't actually interested in (or able to?) explain your point, so I'm just going to move on.

And to answer your question from your other post: No, I don't think VO is a 1LW in the NHL. He's only the third-best LW on his own team going into this season. But I also wouldn't determine whether or not Sam is a 1RW based on the fact he plays with Jack, so I'm not sure what the point of your question was.

Who cares? It would be the best Sabres line since Gerald Ford was president (or translated into Canadian via Google, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau)
