You think the Sabres will walk away from Sam?
- sbroads24

If Sam goes to arbitration and gets a deal based on playing next to eichel , see ya.... big $ isnt available.

My understanding is , arbitration doesnt take into account other intangibles-

Covid issues
Linemate fluffing issues
Lack of effort issues

I believe they work out a 1 year deal prior to arbitration for 5.75ish.

There's a 0% chance, actually less than 0% chance they'd walk away from him for nothing.

I need to know that you understand the difference between acknowledging skill and being a fan of a player.

Tom Brady is one of the best QBs of all time. I despise his existence.

Use that as an example.

I will defend Sam's skill because not doing so is not being honest, and being biased against him, as you have readily admitted. You don't have to like a guy, but saying he's not talented is simply being dishonest.

- TheSabresTaco

Great post taco.

I've mentioned this before:

I dont like tom brady either, but he is the best ever.

I don't like sam reinhart, but his on ice product is not nearly as good as the sammers around here want to believe.
It's easy to just qualify my posts as "sam didnt sign an autograph " you hate him.

Actually, I feel like sam is very overrated ON THE ICE

Seriously, everyone scores with eichel :
Ek9
Olloffson
Skinner

Guy has a career high of 25 goals, which would be closer to 15 goals without the best passer on his line and top pp1 time.

Funny, I'm not one of those guys, guy.

Sam is worth more on this hockey board than anywhere on the planet.

Those are all good players you've listed. Their individual impacts are very different, but their base stats are quite similar. However, you need speed and skill to be consistently effective with Eichel, as we've seen throughout his tenure here. We've also seen that Sam Reinhart and Jack Eichel elevate each other's game, which is incredibly significant. Third, we know, and it's been proven, that Sam Reinhart is still a "talented" player without Eichel, and when I say talented, I define him in the most basic sense. He's a top 6 scorer with or without him.

Is this a scale of 1%- %1,000% ?

Or is this from a -1,000% - %1,000 scale ?

I appreciate the banter and great points you bring to the discussion.

Sam's small sample size without eichel, but with ror are not enough for me to be convinced.

So "top 6 scorer" meaning a top 186 forward in the league, sure I %100 agree.

Aaron Rodgers in his prime was the best quarterback of this century.

*hides*

The Patriots were a dynasty due to the overall team.

Drew Brees played his entire career in this century and has the #1 numbers in almost every category.

You can tilt the argument any way you like. I know the clown would be happy to come in here and list how many ppg Reinhart collects per year. If it's in the top 93, he's a top line winger. If not, he's a top 6. I could say, the past few years, he's in the top 93, you could say overall he wasn't, which includes his age 18, 19 and 20 year seasons. Whether that's fair or not is the opinion of the party. Whether you're convinced he's "good" or "a top line winger" is certainly a discussion that can take 100 different viewpoints. You can use baseline stats, you can use analytics, you can use fights, hits, blocks, tuffness, truculence, tenacity, effort, whatever you want.

Nick Ritchie was playing with Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf for a time, to provide them space when they were at the end of their prime. Was he a top line player? Technically, yes, but his ppg suggested he was more like a bottom 6, bottom 3 player.

So, as is probably most common, we'll define Reinhart by his ppg, either overall or over the past 3 years. And I don't have the numbers in front of me, but last year he was 96th OA in ppg, but that also includes 6 players that played less than 10 games. Making Reinhart 90th OA. Which means, by standard definition, he's a top line forward.

I won’t argue that.

I don’t think there is necessarily a right or wrong answer. My preference is Rodgers though.

Kane doesnt want to come back to Buffalo......... he doesnt even come back here during the summers anymore since the Cab issues.

But I get what you were saying.

Anyways .... we cant have a kane like player, keep hall, sign Dahlin long term,

cap wise it doesnt fit.

Although I dislike tom f brady and like drew brees :

What about the important categories.

Championships
Division titles

Winning in general can be attributed to the team, but the qb is the most important position in sport.
