Risto should NOT be protected.

Great experience. Thanks, Sean.

I thought Miller was the most likely selection. With a few needs (G & LHD notably) I expect the Sabres will use excess RHD to swing a trade. So, leaving Miller exposed today reflects the fact that I don’t think he’ll be a Sabre at the draft.

To someone: Yes! Ristolainen must be protected. He has greater value to both Buffalo or Seattle than any D not named Dahlin.

The 8-1 scheme would have allowed Miller to be protected. But, Asplund and Thompson would then be exposed. Miller may be the mire sure-thing, but he ceiling is much higher with the young F’s.

Also, the Sabres have a roster imbalance with too many RHD. That’s probably a good problem to have, but this team doesn’t have the luxury of carrying superfluous talent and forsaking roster needs.

still think this one of the weakest logos in the league. It's a weak S with a red tongue sticking out. Compare that with the winged wheel, the Hawks' mascot. The Devils, Avalanche, Habs, Rangers, Flyers, Penguins, sharks, even the Jets, Preds, Wild, Bruins.. some character. This entire logo is an S sticking it's tongue out. OOoo.

Miller is a good choice but I think they’d have to consider Girgensons as well. He has offensive upside. Put him with better offensive player and he has shown he can produce. Just been stuck with johan Larson and Okposso as linemates! Plus with the draft next year one of Montour or Risto will be traded and then Miller would be protected!

Did Ristolainen do the write ups?

maybe this is why Hall only signed a 1 year deal with them so they wouldn't have to worry about protecting him for expansion and they have an agreement on the side to sign his real long term contract next July 1st

Colin Miller is a trash-tier defenseman. Horrible selection when you factor in his cap hit.

I'll be disappointed when it doesn't involve leaving Klefbom exposed.

The S is more than just an initial. It is a nod to the first U.S. based team to win a Stanley Cup - the Seattle Metropolitans. Personally, I think it’s kind of cool that Seattle wears their history.

I thought about selecting Okposo and then woke up in a cold sweat and was ecstatic to discover it was only a dream.
