I hate the Habs and Sens, but ironically I will agree about Toffoli and Danonov. Solid signings. Montreal though gave a worse contract to a worse player in Anderson to offset it.

The AP contract by Vegas is terrible. Especially given they had to almost give away Schmidt to do it.

Shocking. Ottawa and Montreal bloggers chose their clubs signing as the best free agent signing. Who could have known? Hi

Toffoli was a solid signing, for sure. But I think it caught everyone off guard, since MTL’s offseason had been such a train wreck up to that point. The bar was so low, when it came to expectations of Bergevin, that people were blown away at his ability to sign a decent middle-six forward at market value

Really?

Traded Domi plus a pick for Anderson, who scored 1 goal last year

Doubled down on the mistake by signing Anderson for 2x market value, for 7 years

Traded a 2nd rd pick for the most overpaid back-up goalie in the league, in an offseason literally flooded with goaltenders, and the proceeded to re-sign him. Again, well above market value

Traded an actual draft pick for the rights to a fringe NHLer / 7th defenseman, and then, you guessed it, re-signed him to a deal well over market value

Simmonds had no interest in signing with the Habs. Took less $$ to sign in TOR

Hall chose BUF, the most inept franchise in the league, over MTL

These moves have been laughed at by everyone outside of MTL. It’s not like I’m making this stuff up

Rarely disagree with Todd. But Dadanov was a far better signing then Toffoli. Pacing 30 goals and 40 assists since entering the NHL, on a 3 year deal is much better then Toffoli, who seems to play good every other season.

Honorable mention to Buffalo for Hall. Its a win win. Hall wanted to go to a contender, and he will when shipped at the deadline 50% retained. Dev's made out well when doing that and so will you.

The way you frame it makes no sense, Anderson was injuried last season. Who cares about Simmonds? Both Toffoli and Anderson are way better than him at this point.

Allen may be the best back up out there for all we know and Habs had the cap space.

Edmunston is a top 4 defenseman. Once again, it's the way you frame things up.

Players are very happy with the moves in mtl, so as the fans.

Bergevin did a great job here overall.

Simmonds and Jumbo Joe going to Leafs is something ppl laugh at ? I agree

Don't really care about Hall, overrated and injured all the time.

Let the season begin and see what happens

Ignore that fool, he's always trolling the Habs thread. I'd imagine he's been driven mad by his Leafs being losers for the last 20 years. Even when they have a better regular season then the Habs, they still manage to miss the playoffs by losing the play in in epic fashion. Now that the Habs have put together an excellent team, the pain must be underbearable to see his team go no where fast with all of their money tied up in a few playoff choke artists and no defense or decent goalie.

Dominated the KHL, just shy of a PPG his rookie NHL season, top 3 scorer for the Russians every wold event. If we are comparing his consistency to Toffoli, its lopsided. Toffoli's 2nd highest goal total in 8 seasons is 24. Dadanov's worst season was this shortened season, where he still notched 25. Not saying Toffoli was a bad signing, but Dadanov was easily my favorite.

I agree the domi trade was very risky. Domi is a proven top 6, and Anderson has mostly been a 3rd liner coming off a serious injury.

The Allen trade and extension still makes no sense to me. At the end of the day, when the season is on the line, he won't even be playing.

Simmonds was great for many years, but he is not that player today. He likely won't play in more then a dozen games, and log under 6 minutes. He barely fought/hit last season, and his scoring disappeared.

Hall does not think Buffalo is a better team then Mtl. He fully expects to be traded at the deadline, and Jack is far more likely to increase his stats for his upcoming contract.

Mtl has me confused with their moves. They are trying to build a veteran/tough playoff team. Only problem is that they need to make the playoffs. They took the 24th spot this past season, and I am not sure that they make the cut this season. Inking all these Vets is a risk that Burgervan is choosing to take.

Haha this isn't a habs blog. No not a Habs fan. Just an impartial fan who thinks Dadanov > Tofolli. Time will answer that.

And no, I do not have the Habs in the playoffs. They need to be better than, in order, Tampa, Philly, Boston, Pittsburgh, Leafs, Rangers,Washington, Carolina.... You still have to pass the islanders/columbus/florida (who all did better last season), and Buffalo may be able to put a better squad together as well. I think Mtl addressed issues that a contender needs to address, not a rebuilding team. Toughness and overpaid backup goaltending still leave you thin down the middle and RW

Who is debating Dadanov vs Toffoli? I don't think anyone really gives a poop. If you don't think they'll make the playoffs, you're entitled to your opinion, but your opinion is proving to be you talking out of your ass when you say they're weakest down the middle and RW. If they're weakest anywhere it's on the LW because Drouin sucks and Tatar is a 2nd line LW, not a 1rst line.
