Holy smokes, the Islanders would be the laughing stock of the NHL if they traded Barzal for Laine. Don’t get me wrong, Laine in a grade-A sniper who will probably top 50 goals more than once in his career, but I - a Flyers fan - just watched 7 excruciating games in which Mat did whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. It sucked, but he is awesome.

That would be extremely stupid to trade Barzal for Laine. Barzal is a better player and plays a premium position. It would have to be more coming the Isles way than just Laine.

After signing Barrie, no chance we trade for Gostisbehere. 1) we dont have the assets to accomodate such a trade 2) from what I can tell, he serves a similar role as barrie (ie PP specialist, not great in his own zone) 3) we dont have cap space and still need to sign bear

I do remember that one time when EK reported the Johansson for Jones trade before anyone else.

Barzal and a pick? I would not make this deal straight up because Jets would need to add. Every game I've seen the Islanders play Barzal is the best player on the ice. There are times I wonder if Laine is playing when I watch the Jets
