Then they'd better start trading and buying guys out. 8M isn't close to enough if they plan on keeping their 1C and 1D. Something has to give. Laine's cap hit this season isn't bad. Tho I watch lots of Jets games and he is abysmal in every scenario other than shooting. If this happens on a 1 for 1 trade, the Jets are clear winners.

I think it’s wrong that the bloggers have to pay to put up their blogs to get exposure.

Interesting to read how much more Barzal’s perceived worth is vs Laine. Barzal has 59 goals in 3 seasons (plus a 2 game trial). In Laine’s 4 seasons, if you subtract his BEST season with 44 goals, he still has 94 goals over his 3 worst seasons.
With the same math, subtracting the same season (his best for points). Barzal has 207 points while Laine has 177.
I’ll take the big bodied natural sniper who really REALLY improved his 200’ game last season over the creative centre Barzal. If anything, it’s a coin toss with no sweeteners needed from either side. If neither player wanted to sign with their current team, maybe this makes sense. But I see no reason Barzal would want out, and Laine is not shy to speak his mind. If he asked for a trade, we’d know about it. He wants big money, no doubt. But I stand by my previous statements... the Jets are NOT trading Laine right now. The only time I could see it being possible is pre-draft next year if Laine wants $10M+ (which he might) and Jets aren’t willing to commit. For right now... they’re keeping the sniper for under $7M. Eklund needs clickbait, and we always fall for it to call him a moron.
