We signed a bottom pair defender to a bottom pair contract. I'm fine with Ceci, he and Matheson could actually end up a + bottom pair. But who is on the 3rd line that they are going to break the puck out to?

I'm disappointed because JR has fully bought into quantity over quality. With a condensed season there will be advantages to having depth, but the Pens need someone in the bottom 6 who can put the puck in the net.

Honestly it is a lot of really good uses. I made a pork shoulder in it last week and it turned out amazing. Cooked it for 24 hours.

This. I guess if Matheson couldn't play the right side we needed a 3RD (I don't consider Ruh a starting defenseman). Not a fan of Ceci, though. Hockey IQ is a real thing. But, the main point is that we really needed to improve 3C/3RW and failed miserably.

There was also the option of doing nothing and letting the ~$2+M cap space accumulate to $8M cap space by the deadline (or end of the season, I can't remember which). Now we're pretty hemmed in with a sketchy lineup. Ugh.
