I understand you just signed him, but what would you be looking for in a trade for Juuso Riikola? |

Only if you take GMJR with you, you can have him for free. 2 for none. |

I don't know why everyone believes this so strongly. The only person who said that was GMJR, who in that same sound bite said Riikola can play the right side and we already saw that he can't.
Of course this team still thinks Bryan Rust is the same on the left as he is on the right. - Tojo.
I like how he said "many" dmen do this, which is not really true. Teams do it when they have no choice and it's usually a poor result. Personally, I think there's a more profound difference for a dman paying their off-side than for forwards. |

I am pumped that GMJR has already given the man baby RW another player to whine about after every game. |

I agree. Horny would have scored more goals than whatever crap plays 3RW this season, too. JR is chasing his tail again. - Hockey66
Other than the concussion Hornqvist received a while back, he has been fairly healthy. I get the concern because of his age and style of play. But it's been unwarranted.
He's gone now and I am anxiously waiting to see who we have that is a net front presence. And not just on the PP. Someone who will do it at even strength also.

Ceci's SKATR chart is much better than anticipated. I don't really like the signing but honestly I'd take Ceci at $1M over Schultz at $5M.
And I'd definitely take Ceci and Matheson for $5.5M over Johnson and Schultz for $8.75M. |

What does Ceci have to do with Schultz? Schultz was slated to be a 2nd pairing dman and was only playing the third pair because of the emergence of Marino. Schultz wasn't going to be brought back to play the third pair at $5M.

Here's a ribeye I was actually searing as you asked, I sear it on my charcoal chimney. - j.boyd919
That looks scrumptious! I seared mine on the grill, however it's really hard to get it hot enough. I like that setup you're sporting. I might try that next.

You can get a grill grate on amazon
It actually ends up saving a poop load of charcoal when you do it in the chimney since it's not spread all over the bottom of the grill. I get the big bags of charcoal and they last me forever. |

Thanks for the tips, homie. Although, I must admit to being a gas dude because I'm too lazy to air around the grill trying to get it just so. That contraption looks like it wouldn't be a lot of work.

Because it's a direct comparison of the team that played versus Montreal and the team that we have right now.
All off us would prefer better/cheaper/different players but we can at least acknowledge that our third pairing got cheaper and better. obviously a low bar, but we can at least acknowledge that. |

The comparison makes no sense because Schultz was not paid to play the 3rd pair. He was brought into play the 2nd pair and got bumped down in the last year of his contract because of Marino. He also was not going to be brought back to play the third line let alone get paid $5M to do it. |

You would be better off thinking that Ceci is replacing Johnson and Matheson is in for Schultz.
Both come at a cheaper rate than there predecessor, both are younger and are filling the needs vacated by each, albeit opposite sides of the ice. Are they better? That is the question.
What Rutherford is thinking, I really can't answer that question, either. |

I think it's far too early to write off Ceci as JJ 2.0. Maybe he's not a true top-4 Dman but he's at least a top-6. Even though he didn't have a great year point total wise last season, he was still a plus player playing 20 minutes a night in a top-4 role. |

The more I think about it, I really like this D group we have assembled. Matheson and Ceci is fantastic for a bottom pair.
Forget Matheson's contract because it sucks and remember that while Ceci has struggled at times, he always gets buried with D zone starts and played on a Toronto team where damn near no forwards are known as responsible 2 way players. I could see CC being our new Ian Cole.
What worries me is offensive talent beyond the top 6. |

This has to be my favorite Ceci take so far. I wasn’t a huge fan of the signing when it first happened, but I’m starting to come around.
If Ceci can come anywhere close to being the stable defenseman that Cole was I would be ecstatic. I believe being in a bottom pairing role where he can be sheltered a bit could do wonders for him.
As for bottom six depth, is there anyone still available that we could afford to sign that would also be considered an upgrade? I’m thinking Kovy is one of the better options at this point. |

It’s not whether or not he’s the next JJ or not. It’s the fact JR spent what little remaining cap space they had on a bad hockey player. |
