This would be my guess, too. Don't like Vesey in the lineup, though. I'd rather Engvall in over him.
Robertson might be pushed back a year if there's too many guys. - GreatGigInTheSky
I'm hoping he gets a chance to unleash that rocket of a shot on Marner's line, but I think he's on the Marlies to start anyway. He's one of the few players on the team that doesn't have to clear waivers. I believe that will be a significant factor this year.

Vesey-Kerfoot is my dark horse tandem to put up 35-40 points each; I think they could be really good, but Kerfoot at center needs to be thing, or that Kadri deal looks bad.
Robertson is a long-shot. I don't think we burn a year of ELC on him on any other season, but with possibly no minors, what do you with kids like that? Platoon them back and forth and just bounce guys on the taxi squad.

I could see Robertson on the 2nd or 3rd line with Jumbo Joe. I think he's making the team. - PatC80
It's a tough call. I think I'm in line with what you're thinking as well. If Thornton can handle 3C duty (which I doubt), then Kerfoot can move up to the 2nd line on the wing.
If Thornton can't handle 3C, he'd probably be the 4C, and Mikheyev probably fights for the left side on the second line.
I have Engvall pencilled in, because I really like him, but none of us have really seen the other guys. That said . . .
Vesey: $900k
Boyd: $700k
Engvall: $1.25m, waivers exempt
Barbanov: $925k, waivers exempt, one-year ELC
Anderson: 10.2(c) RFA, waivers exempt
Robertson: $821k, ELC, must play in NHL or junior
Vesey has NHL experience with 3 straight years of 15+ goals. He probably has a job to lose.
With the considerations of Barbanov on a 1 year deal, I doubt he doesn't get a look at the NHL level. They were pretty high on him.
Boyd seems like a tweener. Anderson is still exempt from waivers.
So if Robertson isn't going to get a regular turn, do you want him on the NHL roster for more than 10 games burning up an ELC year if you can't get him in regularly and reliably? It feels like these moves exclude him.
What hurts Engvall is that he is still waivers exempt and makes $300 - $500k more than his competition - but I really like what he brings to the table, as I said. They might need his PK skills, especially with Kapanen gone.
I think we're trying to squish Barbanov, Vesey, Robertson and Engvall into 2 spots.
It feels like teams know how to play him especially in games that matters. A lot of times he makes his magic by drawing defenders to him but teams are just holding their defenders back and have him come. More often than not he loses his puck trying to beat defenders then. - gamerdoc
I'm not going to female dog about his contract, it's good value. 6.9 aav was fair the day it was signed. It would have been fine if it was signed in July. The holding out and eventually caving on Dubas part was the issue.

I seen him play live against Arizona just after his call up. At first I thought he was just wearing a weird helmet that made his neck look longer. It's easily twice the length of mine though

That’s why trading away Marleau was a huge mistake. He should have said to MM look, I want Marleau around. You’ll get your chance to make money later but losing your mentor at this point isn’t just acceptable. If you don’t want to sign at discount, sign for 1 year and let’s do this again next year.
I mean we could have drafted Jarvis, if nothing else - gamerdoc
