Sick of hearing we got worse cause we're.older and slower when for 3 seasons we have been younger and faster than almost every team in the league and haven't won a playoff round. - systemtool
We did get older and slower
But we also got wiser and grittier.
Which was needed.
Our top 6 will be as quick as it was, even without Kapanen there (who I never really considered a full-time top-6er).
Our bottom 6 should have enough speed to negate some of the slower older players, who likely won't play a ton of minutes 5v5, but should see regular appearances on the PP (Simmonds, Thornton).

The Flyers threads don't want him back either.
HockeyBuzz should implement "banishment" threads, so instead of a site-wide ban, all the rejects can only post in a single thread, rejects on rejects, everyone has read-only access, so we can watch the car crash unfold.

Some of my comment on getting a little slowed also was directed at D ... Barrie for all his faults... and he has a few .. had damn good wheels.
Brodie & Muzz ain’t the swiftest guys and speed & quickness doesn’t increase north of 30.... Add in Holl & occasionally Bogo and the D is more plodding ... now if Keefe can get the forwards to backcheck better it may not be that big issue. But it could be a factor.
The changes were needed and the team at least to me got more difficult to play against...

Kinda glad the D is a bit slower. They can stay in their end and actually defend maybe.
I doubt that there will be an AHL season as well. I can’t see scenarios that would allow fans and many of the NHL teams that sponsor them are in no position to do so in the coming year.
You could see the Leafs loan some players to European teams while still picking up their salaries (another advantage their financial poverty gives them). In that scenario, if it becomes a toss up, guys like Barabanov, Kershov could stay in the K. Lehtonen is there now but since he is only on a one year contract I doubt he stays there. Robertson has to play somewhere and unless he is sound,y beat out, l think he’s on the team and he sure looked like he fits earlier. - Canada Cup
