Thanks Carol,

Hawryluk lives in his parents basement?

He'll be able to connect with a few posters here, that's for sure!

I think maybe Hawryluk was isolating in his parents' basement when he was dealing with the Covid?

But Gaudette and his wife apparently are living in *his* parents' basement.

And everybody always said it was the bloggers!

I think they were always referring to James Tanner as the mom & dad basement dweller

Like that quote from Gaudette about stealing Toffoli's spot. He needs to be ambitious to cement himself in the NHL.

Not picking on you, just thought it was funny wording

For many years I made less than half of the AHL minimum salary and I haven't lived with my parent since I was 17. What a different world we live in these days.

You mean the Covid world?

Oh no these kids are spending the pandemic with their families at home, what a bunch of losers!

I don't think the dude hasn't ever not been ambitious! One of his biggest positives is his drive

LOL, right. Must have hit a sore spot there. I wasn't calling anyone a loser .

I was just pointing out that when I was a kid, we moved out of our parent houses around the time you became a legal adult. In, 1995-96, I did this on $11k/year cooking in a restaurant.

These kids are in their mid 20's, Gaudete is married even, and make pretty descent money. I just find it odd they live with their parents. I wouldn't have even been allowed to consumate that marriage in my parents house.

25 years culture can change a fair amount. I don't think how much money someone makes has any bearing on how independent they are to be honest.

Wanting to be close to family during a pandemic isn't something I ever expected to see criticized

Many of these guys left home when they were 14-15 years old. Getting time to catch up with their parents and rebuild those bonds with their families is probably very appealing.

It's like they live full-time with their parents when they're playing professional hockey

In NYC? Ya, right. I know people that do in the city, though – good way to save money.

I stay with my parents when I visit Vancouver. Spent over a month there when I came back in August. And gosh golly, it sure was nice to spend time with them during a pandemic.

That was the implication. They still live with their parents = not normal behaviour.

We criticized Tryamkin for wanting to be with his Grandma.

I moved out at 14. Well, occasionally I had to live with my folks a couple of months here and there if I wanted to be released from custody but freedom has a price.

I think the family bubble is a common thing right now.
