Kevin Allen: The 2021 NHL draft doesn't have a Lafreniere, but boasts stud D men NHL scouts are keeping an eye on 6-5 defenseman Owen Power and 6-4 defenseman Simon Edvinsson among others.

It'll be one of the more interesting years for sure. Any of eight guys could go first if the draft was today. My way too early ranking of them goes:

1. Owen Power
2. Luke Hughes
3. Kent Johnson
4. Carson Lambos
5. Brandt Clarke
6. Simon Edvinsson
7. Aatu Räty
8. Dylan Guenther

Five defensemen, two centers, and a winger.

There might not be a Lafreniere at the top, but you throw in Lysell, Sillinger, Eklund, Wallstedt, Lucius, Beniers, Lazutin, and Poltapov, and you've got a pretty solid draft.
