I really like what Tanev and Stecher offered in terms of he heart, but i'm not going to miss their muffin shots. Defenses would literally leave Tanev alone at the point forcing Hughes to pass it to him and teams would just layoff cover everyone else and challenge Tanev to use his weak shot. Hopefully Hughes will have better options next year.

Rathbone and Tryamkin have heavy shots.... don't know enough about Rafferty or Joulevi's shots, but i'm sure it's an upgrade on both Tanev and Stecher.

We have Hughes, Schmidt, Edler, Myers, Benn. The rest are AHL players. One injury and there's trouble.

OJ isn't an AHL player, you'll be pleased with his play

Series winning muffin shot

If Hughes does line up with Myers, he's got a pretty big shot as well.

I covered this already. I agree mostly.

We still have Benn, who was number 6 last year and will be number 6 this year.

Just changing out stretcher with OJ, besides that the D is better then last year so I don't see a drop off, unless we're forced to lose one of our elite 200' forwards like Sutter, Beagle or LE, then our team D will suffer.

Yeah, better to just quit. Other teams will make fun of the Canucks if they look like they're trying like a bunch of losers

Ok...this is just ridiculous, Stecher may not be an all-star but he’s a serviceable NHL dman with almost 300 games of NHL experience. Which Juolevi hasn’t proven he can be yet. Nice reach though.

As for Tanev and Schmidt, they play a totally different style of game so I don’t think it’s a huge improvement, but an improvement nonetheless.

- Pacificgem

Stetcher was serviceable, but usually played outside of his depth. I feel that OJ will bring more to the table than Stetcher did in terms of skills and size.

It’s bizarre. Try OJ. If he sucks, throw in Rathbone. The bar is pretty low between guys like Hutton, Fatty, Stecher and Benn. Let’s see what we have

The problem is that 1/2 the fan base thinks the Canucks are contenders now.

In reality, we are a bubble team with a higher chance at playoffs than most other bubble teams.

Claiming half the fan base see the Canucks as "contenders" wasn't very reasonable.

Technically.... if there is a Canadian division next season, where would you rank the Canucks?

Is say top one or two.
A division winner would be a contender, yes?

We should contend for a playoff spot, right?

We're totally contenders.

I'd say the Canadian division is pretty tough for the Canucks.

TO has been a top team
Flames got better in the short term
Winnipeg is perpetually tough to deal with
Edmonton is so spotty
Montreal is kinda like Van
Ottawa is poop

I could see Van finishing anywhere from 3rd to 5th.

Leafs haven't done Jack, our d is better then theirs, same with the Oilers, flames could be a tough one, Markstrom will pull his groin, he's not that good a goaltender, Winnipeg has no defensemen and Montreal is trash.
Anywhere from 1 to 4 is where I see us finished at.
