Obviously for us it’s Tanev given that he was linked to us.

This isn’t popular, but Petro ... that money and term for a 31 yr old... ouch... Vegas is gonna find out how Fla feels with the Bob...

Johan Larson for the Sabres is the pick for me. Was given ample chances to produce for YEARS and every time he failed miserably. Sure, he was good at face offs but man every time he was on the ice it was like, “we’ll time to get something to eat and drink! Ain’t missing anything here.” Great teams 4th aka “checking line” dabble a little on the scoring sheet! Not a line Larson was on could do that.

I’d take [email protected] vs [email protected] for the next 4 years 100%

Beyond 4 years I don’t care. We’ll be tear down and rebuild regardless

You'd think Matheson and Tanev would drag us down more, but we also have four of the best contracts in the league in Crosby, Malkin, Guentzel, and Letang. All the free agency acquisitions we got this year obviously are no good, but they're all on small contracts. Ceci is the biggest one and its still not a huge deal. Ceci is only an on ice problem, not really a cap problem. Kind of like how Tanev is a cap problem, not an on ice problem.

EDIT: Oh and Rust has turned into a sneakily excellent contract over the past two seasons, and Marino being on ELC is probably a big boost too.

I'm guessing you read the piece? Matheson was the huge hit.....naturally. Agree on Tanev... If you're going to overpay for role player, at least he's quite good at his role. What sucks is there were better players to be had on similar small deals.

I wouldn't say it's Bob bad. It'll be bad in a few years, but if they win a cup in that time then I'd say it's money well spent.

No I haven’t yet. I will eventually, I’ve just been preparing for a meeting I thought would be a lot more tedious. It’s always great when people you need to do something for you instantly agree with no push back.

For that piece, rookie contracts and goaltending aren't factored in so Marino didn't help that ranking.

Basic takeaway for me is the quality at the top half of the lineup outweighs the overpays in the bottom half better than most teams. And a lot of teams still need to figure out who to move because they're over the cap, Pens aren't.

Not a free agent, but I am glad we didn't trade for MAF. Too much cap space would have been spent for a back up goalie... I love him, but we need to keep moving forward!

I’m pretty happy to see that the people of Allegheny and PA in general chose the right person for president. Can’t wait to see Trump’s puppy dog Bolsonaro (president of Brazil) out of the door.

Agree with this. Also agree with Chris Tanev. Both have ties to this team so I'm sure they were tempting for JR who seems to allow that to cloud his reasoning. I'm glad we didn't sign Bobby Ryan as he is a Trump-loving racist.

I would sign Pietrangelo with his contract in a second and not think twice (provided we had the room by moving out Letang).

Joe Thornton. Sure he might have fought a few times and probably got an assist or two. But we would have heard a never ending rhetoric of leadership, get one for joe! Bullpoop and ultimately he would have been a scratch anyway.

I almost mentioned him but I figured JR learned his lesson with Marleau so it wasn't a threat to actually happen. But does JR learn lessons? Also, Thornton definitely plays a position of need, so maybe he was considered.

Yes, and a bigot, too. Then he deleted tweets and retweets. So maybe he's a coward, too? And of course the NHL gives him an award this year to put the cherry on top of the sh!t sundae.
