As the first guy on this thread I would like to ask everyone to ignore the trolls.
We cherish hockey related exchange of opinions too much to allow ourselves to be derailed every single time. |

I was only 7 when Pelle passed. I remember it very vividly though. Very sad day. |

i'm a thread or two late but I wanna comment on Desnoyers
we traded up more than once in the draft this year
the more this team finds guys past the first round (Ghost, Lindblom and others on the way) the more I trust that they really know what they're doing. When a guy like Desnoyers takes a huge leap offensively in his D+1 year we shouldn't be too surprised |

I wish there was a very minimal IQ filter on this site so that mine could be the third post in chronological order. |

No matter when it occurs, the time between the NHL draft /FA and the beginning of training camp has got to be the pits of the world for hockey fans. I just wish they would start the next season already. Thanks Bill for doing your best to fill the void! |

I still drive by the "Pelle corner" 2 or 3 times a week. Its always a reminder of what happened. My dad drove me over there the day after it happened and I can still see in my head the (very short) skid marks and the red paint on the wall long washed away by rain and time. Just a few weeks before my 15th birthday. It stuck with me for a long time.

I also wonder that if he had just hit the wall maybe 3 or 4 feet to the right, he may have survived.
The angle of the road approaching the school house wall was at about a 45 degree angle. He may have hit the wall and ricocheted to the right sliding down the wall and the impact may not have been as severe even at that speed.
Instead he impacted at the right corner of the concrete stairway that split the 3(ish) foot high wall that ran along the front of the building. It was like impacting a wedge at high speed, the car had nowhere to go except stop...instantly.
We know he only saw it at the last second because the skid marks started barely before the sidewalk (maybe 8 feet or so). Which at the speed was barely an instant. |

I was at the first game after Pelle died. Jensen in net against Edmonton, it was surreal. |

I don’t mind the Olympics until one of our guys gets hurt. Who would realistically be going from our squad ? Jake, Coots, Hart?, Provorov, Raffl?, Hayes?. Imagine Hart or Coots went down.. |

Not just the injury factor but the tv times are all jacked up and/or you lose interest because Canada and USA get knocked out.
I'm not sure who would go off our team.
Couts and Provorov for sure.

Et tu, DP?
Its the Summer Olympics this year. That got postponed from the last one. Winter Olympics are 2 years away. No hockey in these Olympics. |

Those are my initials, not sure why you used them though.
And thx I forgot. Summer Olympics will not happen though, which really sucks for Japan. |

I know its counter intuitive, but I wish they would play hockey in the Summer Olympics like they do with basketball. |

I think Hart is a lock to go. He might be already but he will definitely be two years from now. |

Agreed. I hate when the season is stopped for games that mean very little to a lot of people. |

I do know what you mean based on where we are situated, but they do mean a lot to more people than the NHL does.
Its the Olympics, the second greatest show on earth after the soccer world cup (in terms of overall viewership). |

Agreed. Especially since it's pretty much just baseball going on.
I do think players would not like it in the summer (like USA basketball) because you are essentially forgoing most of your break to keep playing. Then you start the grind of camp before you know it. |
