The sweater looks good. Not as good as some of our actual retro jerseys, but the goal with this was to make something new that pays homage to the past, and I think this does it well.

I thought both Philly and Pitt missed the mark. They’re not terrible. They’re just...meh.

But I’m totally with RW here regarding Minni and Colorado. Lookin sharp! Love it! And the Whale I would have made one of the bolder colors the background, but nice try all the same. Everyone misses that sweater so much.

I even hated the old Devils Christmas Trees from back in the day, but this thing, I dunno why, I kinda like. I think they went a little deeper toned.

I don't get teams like Colorado going back to Quebec. I know it's the same franchise that moved but the fan bases have nothing to do with each other. At least the Colorado Rockies played hockey in Colorado...

And there was as much whaling going on in the Carolinas as there was in New England. Maybe they should have kept the Whalers name since it's probably more likely then the Hurricanes.... Not to mention Whales hate Hurricanes. I'm assuming...

I think I'm just a bit bored with these retro/3rd jersey cash grabs and most of these aren't very impressive or creative.

It's ok I guess. Would have liked it better in black.

I always liked the Hartford Whalers jerseys. Plus I am a Ron Francis fan.

Nordiques is also awesome - good for Colorado to do that.

That Bruins bear patch - What the hell???

I do like the Wild logo in North Stars colors, except that moon makes me think the poor animal has a brain tumor.

You don’t think Nordique fans of the 90s stuck with their team when they moved? Or the Whalers fans stuck with the Canes when they moved? I feel like the fans would stick as they have an attachment to the players on the team

It’s been my anecdotal experience that fans do not do this. The Chargers fans I knew from college gave the middle finger to the franchise and checked out of the NFL entirely. Knew a Nets fan that checked out of the NBA when they moved to Brooklyn. I’ve heard a ton of old timers talk about their parents’ deep disdain for the Dodgers when they moved to LA.

Big yikes on that Anaheim jersey. Not as bad as their Stadium Series ones, but still pretty awful. Why is Anaheim so bad at jersey design?

Visually, it’s stupid as hell, but it’s fun stupid and I’ll support any call back to the Mighty Ducks.

IDK, but I'm doubtful Nordique fans stuck with the Avs and that the Whalers fans stuck with the Canes.... But I was also thinking that's the wrong way to look at it.

As a Devil's fan, I feel a strong connection to the KC Scouts and slightly less to the Colorado Rockies. And now that the team plays out of Newark there is a connection to the Newark Bulldogs. So if the Avs and Canes fans are feeling it, that's understandable....

Interesting. I guess that makes sense if you look at it as ownership screwing the fans over. I just think to the attachment to the players, and thinking as if I was a kid watching the Pens and if they moved I feel like I’d watch the new team too? Although if I was old enough to realize that the owners moved for profit yeah I could see where you’re like (frank) off.

Yeah Vics response put it into more of a perspective. I was thinking like growing up and watching the team and them moving while I was a kid and not an adult.

It’s a case by case bases. My Chargers buddy was definitely a (frank) you for abandoning the city guy. My Jersey friend was never a big basketball fan and was just rooting for home town sports. When the nets left for NYC he just shrugged his shoulders and stopped watching.

But generally speaking a lot of fandom is tied up in city identity and a big part of the passion gets lost when they’re not your city’s team anymore even if you still love the players. As the team continues to evolve away from the last iteration of the team that was in your city, why would you stay as a fan? They’re just another random team at that point. Like I see why Nordiqs fans would root for the Joe Sakic Avalanche but not sure what their rooting interest would be in the MacKinnon Avalanche.

Don't forget the Brownies fan who actually drove to Baltimore to pee on Art Modell's grave:

I also vaguely remember some Brownies fans actually cheering for the Steelers against their old team shortly after the move (not all, just some).

I am fortunate enough to live in a city that has never had a major sports team move but I can't imagine cheering for the team after it moves.

The Jets missed the mark big time. They absolutely should have used the baby blue Thrashers jersey with the Jets logo they used for the retro and then could have had "Winnipeg" down the left arm.

The Pens changed the jersey after back to back cups when going for a 3 peat. Not that the jersey had anything to do with it but I'm sure that's probably why. It's funny the Pens semi-changed when going on the 2016 run then made the full change in 2017.

Don’t forget about the stupid ass move from Seattle to Oklahoma. I was one of the guys who said F you to the franchise.
Thunder is no SuperSonics. I really tried to like them but just couldn’t. Stopped watching NBA games.

The Robot Penguin would be awesome. Let’s hope for it before Sid and Geno retire.

The white one yes, when paired with the black diagonal Pittsburgh was a good set of jerseys. The black Robo penguin jersey blew. I believe I hate it even more because it went from the third jersey to replacing the diagonal Pittsburgh which I loved.

Yeah hopefully the Sonics are on their way back soon with that new arena but that hurt. Seeing such a cool franchise move the second got Durant wasn’t fun even from an outside perspective.

Weirdly though, the one Sonics fan I knew in college moved with them because he was originally from Oklahoma before moving to Seattle so it worked real well for him.
