Staal should be fine, but he’s also going from 1C-2C and probably not on PP1.

So we’re probably looking at a 35-40 point player tops. Which is fine if it’s mostly at EV and he helps Skinner regain some consistency

But teams are gonna feast on Staal/Eakin if that’s the plan on defense

- sbroads24

I'll take the over on that bet all day if he's playing with Skinner and Reinhart

And then in the playoffs you could conceivably play a division opponent 7 more times. A team could play 67 games this year, and 15 are against one team. 22% of their games against 1 team. God i hate the NHL sometimes

In the 7 team division, its 17/67: 25%

Trying to make the best out of a fukked up situation, I’ll give them a pass. It’s better than no hockey at all. At least it’ll be temporary.

Lol at Ristolainen and Olofsson

Eichel will win the MVP someday if our coaches/GM’s finally decide they don’t love 55

- sbroads24

That's going to upset some people, seeing VO as bad as Risto (and how extreme it is).

Pretty rough on Sam too. A dull, neutral player.

Marginally. They should give the canadian teams the option to come play inter-divisional games on a 4 week road trip. If they don't want to do it, fine, play all of your games in Canada by yourselves. The 3 divisional American teams can play 40 divisional games and 20 interdivisional

I don’t care either. I’m happy Hall’s here.

But trading for old teammates and signing guys the coach liked in his only other 40 game coaching stop isn’t a sustainable business model.

They bungled the draft. They bungled RFA and UFA contracts. They showed that they can’t evaluate good bottom 6 talent.

- sbroads24

So signing Staal and Hall isn't good for the Sabres. Interesting...

Overpaid Girgs but they bungled the draft? So you're that much smarter than our front office in evaluating 18 year olds? Interesting....I think i'll wait 3 or 4 years to evaluate the draft. I like they got JJ in the 2nd round when every analyst had him in the low 20s in their rankings.

I'm having a hard time imagining any team would agree to an unbalanced schedule where they play more road games than home games.

NHLPA would also tell them to go frank themselves.

That's fine, just let the Canadian teams do their own division then. This current plan is just the NHL being cheap and the players being lazy. The fans get the culmination of those two factors in a boring poop sundae.

Ya, it's been a mixed bag. C+/B-, maybe a B ... certainly Hall and Staal are A+'s in my book.
Quinn is a question mark, but I do like his recent play and the fact his sudden improvement was apparent tly a result of dedicating himself to his craft from a more non-challent commitment level. Just keep him away from Mitts, lol. JJ is very interesting. The bottom 6 adds were really situational fits more than anything.
I'm willing g to give him the benefit of the doubt this season.
Next offseason is going to be even more crazy.

Boring crom the standpoint of seeing the same teams versus seeing every team, yes.
Not boring if these teams build a hatred for each other playing 8+ times, with back to backs

I doubt it unfolds that way though.

In any event, prepare for the Sabres to be out of it by end of March...roughly 2 months in

The 7 team division is going to be an absolute joke. Playing the same 6 teams 60 times. When the wild and Detroit are out of it 10 games in and they have to play each other 9 more times for no reason, that'll be terrific hockey

Edit: the canadian division is the 7. So Ottawa and Calgary or Montreal

No, apparently THEY feel they are much smarter than everyone else who evaluated them since they took a guy who most people had as the 4-5 best player on the board at the time.

Then also thought THEY were smarter than everyone when they tried to trade up into the 20’s for a guy who fell to pick 34.

They’re bad.

The west division doesn't even need to play. Here ya go:

Vegas, Colorado, Dallas and St Louis are in the playoffs

LA, SJ, AZ and Anaheim are out.

I just saved 60 pointless games

Peter Chrielli was able to win a cup, that’s what I cling too.

Hopefully Eichel and Hall create magic together and they can convince him to remain on reasonable term.

Then those two alone can be their own recruitment tool and hopefully management is able to sign better players that want to be here, ones whom are obvious in both the eye test and analytically speaking, and we can win because of the fact we have a few elite talents in the organization that not even stupid management can Frank up.

Kind of like how Rutherford won two cups in Pittsburgh before franking up that organization due to being brain dead.

The "Cuomo was only following CDC guidelines" argument is ridiculous. Florida, who has a more elderly and more vulnerable population, and who everyone wants to vilify for its response to the virus, never had anywhere near this problem. Why? Because they used common sense and focused on protecting the elderly first. Cuomo, Whitmer and others didn't do that. Plain and simple.

At this point we're talking about a disease that has above a 99% recovery rate. For the vast majority of the population, getting this virus is nowhere near a death sentence. It's time to stop acting like it is. If your more vulnerable, take extra precautions. The rest of us need to get back to work.

Have you had it?

Because I'm convinced I have it.

I've been bedridden since Monday night, and I've never been this sick. I'd describe all of my awful, relentless symptoms but it would be easier to tell you the ones I don't have. And I don't wish this on ANYONE.

I'm a "hand washer" by nature and I've taken all the "extra precautions", but I also work in the trucking industry, where hundreds and hundreds of drivers from out of state (from states who still think this is a (frank)ing god damn conspiracy or a hoax, because the orange child politicized it and couldn't simply lead by example) come through my facility. And many of these drivers are NOT taking precautions at all. So where does that leave me? Wondering if I'm a statistic? Wondering which side of that virus line I'll end up, when it's all said and done?

I'm managing to pull myself together enough today to go get a test.

Well poopbird Dom Luszczyscyn basically said the Sabres shouldn't try, so we're out too. See you guys at the draft.

He's probably right. This system would be a travesty. You have a western division that will not be competitive, you have a Canadian division where a higher percentage of teams will make it (4/7), the south central will have FLA, TB, CAR, Minnesota, Chicago, Nashville, Columbus and Detroit.

Chicago, Minnesota and Detroit are absolute dogs, so that one's basically decided.

I mean, cmon, we waited 10 months and then we're going to get stuck in the hardest division in hockey and we don't get to feast on poopty teams and walk to the playoffs.

It's a boring, stupid, unfair idea and I really hope it doesn't happen. Absolute garbage if it happens
