He's probably right. This system would be a travesty. You have a western division that will not be competitive, you have a Canadian division where a higher percentage of teams will make it (4/7), the south central will have FLA, TB, CAR, Minnesota, Chicago, Nashville, Columbus and Detroit.
Chicago, Minnesota and Detroit are absolute dogs, so that one's basically decided.
I mean, cmon, we waited 10 months and then we're going to get stuck in the hardest division in hockey and we don't get to feast on poopty teams and walk to the playoffs.
It's a boring, stupid, unfair idea and I really hope it doesn't happen. Absolute garbage if it happens - jcragcrumple

Peter Chrielli was able to win a cup, that’s what I cling too.
Hopefully Eichel and Hall create magic together and they can convince him to remain on reasonable term.
Then those two alone can be their own recruitment tool and hopefully management is able to sign better players that want to be here, ones whom are obvious in both the eye test and analytically speaking, and we can win because of the fact we have a few elite talents in the organization that not even stupid management can Frank up.
Kind of like how Rutherford won two cups in Pittsburgh before franking up that organization due to being brain dead. - Pegullaville
What's going to happen is the Sabres will ride Dahlin becoming a star, Cozens being a ROY candidate, Skinner bouncing back, Jokiharju developing into a nice step forward, and it will buy the coach and GM the next 6 years to slowly make it worse and never coming close to a cup.
That's my positivity for the day |

Owen Power could be a beast as well...already a 6'5" 215 at 17 yo...physical Dman
He would look good behind Dahlin and next to Joker |

No, apparently THEY feel they are much smarter than everyone else who evaluated them since they took a guy who most people had as the 4-5 best player on the board at the time.
Then also thought THEY were smarter than everyone when they tried to trade up into the 20’s for a guy who fell to pick 34.
They’re bad. - sbroads24
We'll see about Quinn. They got JJ at 34 and his average draft ranking was 22, so that doesn't SUCK so much. |

Trading up from early second round to late first round is always the bad move. Those picks are all very close in value and you lose chances at hitting picks with the ones you give up.
I'm glad he wasn't able to get that high |

Pretty accurate, and I can realistically see all of that happening.
I’m going to put my faith in our elite talent though putting us over the top.
Pittsburgh has had brutal management as well yet won despite them for the most part although they did obviously make a few moves (Kessel, Dumolin) that worked out.
I understand having two of the top 5 players of the era in Crosby and Malkin helps and they are the exception to the rule of team building.
With Buffalo, I don’t think it’s impossible that we have elite talents in Eichel, Hall, and Dahlin remain with us long term (now obviously the immediate results of this year will dictate that)
Cozens, Joker, Reinhart, Skinner can be entrenched in their proper roles as 2nd line forwards/2nd pair RHD in Joker’s case, and be a good supporting cast.
As long as they find a goalie (or UPL develops into a #1) they should be fine barring overpaying Reinhart and Olofsson by a landslide when their contracts expire.
It should not be too difficult to build around a core like that but obviously the recent history of Sabres management teams dictate they don’t deserve the benefit of the doubt.

60 game season ? USA / Canada conferences ? Wonder what our division would look like. I've seen this, so far :
Buffalo
Pittsburgh
Philadelphia
Washington
Boston
NY Islanders
NY Rangers
NJ Devils
I've also seen one where Pittsburgh is replaced by Carolina
Either way, I think we're screwed ...

I hate that "if you're on time, you're late" crap. If you want the skate to start at 11:25, then set the time for that, not 11:30 |

The coaches didn’t know both dach and cozens were getting treatment and that’s why they were “late.”
They didn’t tell the coach I guess?
Anyways. Not a big deal. |

Here’s my worst case scenario
The Sabres are worse defensively right now with no Larsson
Ristolainen will get hurt for the first time ever, and miss significant time, we will get scored on more because we have no shut down center, and the organization will jump to re-sign Risto |
