We need a goalie.

It’s clear with our recent player additions that Kreuger is going to open things up and be more aggressive offensively.

Between playing a more open style,
and replacing Larsson with Eakin, we will be more susceptible defensively.

Now if we can go balls out and acquire Kuemper that would be lovely as he’ll cover up some of those boo-boos.

We’ll also score more goals this year and might be able to out score some of our problems.

I wouldn’t say it’s impossible to finish top 4 in the “perceived” division we are in but it’s not likely either, especially if they stand pat

At least Hall and Eichel should be exciting to watch, and Staal can help Skinner.

But get ready for Montour and Ristolainen’s on ice Sv% to dive off a cliff and for us to still have an awful PK/Goaltending

Acquire Kuemper and they can challenge for the 4th spot.

Boston has injuries to their top guys and they are another year older and they may be a surprise team that slips out. Losing Krug and possibly Chara in one offseason doesn’t help.

Isles have shoddy goaltending and they have some maneuvering to do to get under the cap. Losing Toews hurts their back end and they may be vulnerable there to lose another couple of bodies.

Pittsburgh has been flat the past couple of seasons however you can never count them out.

I'd have the Islanders in third and Philly and Rangers battling for fourth. Sabres in 6th.

No wildcards would be garbage. Wild card spots are the relief valves that even out weak and strong divisions. Without inter-divisional conference play, the entire thing is a sham. It's not a league at that point. It's 4 leagues and the Sabres are in the Premier League or whatever league in soccer is good. Ralph would know

As much as they need a G, if I were GM I'd be trying to secure a) 1RhD for Dahlin's partner so that they could turn Dahlin loose, and B) 2LhD for Joker.

IMO of course, it would be beneficial to trade 2 of Risto, Montour, Miller to help facilitate those upgrades. I would say "need to" but I don't want to project my beliefs on others.

I think Carolina is in instead of Pittsburgh in some predictions.

I would be a little more upbeat about it if they they did a play-in round but in the round you would cross over divisions. For instance, top 2 teams in each division get a bye....if Buffalo finished 6th in the toughest division in hockey they would play a best of 5 against team 3 in the other eastern division. Etc. After that play-in you have your 16 teams.
