Dolphins have sucked since Marino retired - Ratsreign
They still had a division title and multiple playoff appearances since then in the 18 years the Bills never even made the playoffs.

point 1: ny was the first to get hit and they got crushed...to use florida in march and april as a comparison is misleading as the weather is generally conducive to being outdoors...go to the summer when ny was outside and fla, tx, az and other warm weather states were indoors in air conditioning and those sun belt cities were getting slammed while ny and northern states had lower case loads...and, in addition, by the time the sun belt was getting hit, much more was known about the virus...
that said, you're asking hospitals to get crushed as covid patients combine with flu and other winter sicknesses and you're not even taking into consideration health care workers who are getting hit as well...that depletes staffing levels putting even more undue pressure on those still standing...
point 2: 1% of 330,000,000 is 3.3 million people
the scott "quack" atlas approach of herd immunity and the bone-headedness of people who still don't believe that the spread of this virus can be mitigated with something as simple as wearing a mask is dangerous...pure herd immunity, which isn't considered to be a viable approach because we're not even sure if this virus could come back, would devastate a large swath of the 1% you're talking about...if not more
finally: the only thing plain and simple is that masks help mitigate the spread of the virus...but it's apparently not plain and simple for large swaths of people who may not even believe this pandemic is real

Would be nice if some form of quantative analysis was actually conducted.
Is this a problem for 90%?, 50%? Or 0.2%?
Does it last a week? A month? Indefinite (so far)?
It would make a difference to me.
Without proper context, it is news worthy, but not much else...yet also realize it could. - IonSabres

Early on, patients with both mild and severe Covid-19 say they can’t breathe. Now, after recovering from the infection, some of them say they can’t think.
Even people who were never sick enough to go to a hospital, much less lie in an ICU bed with a ventilator, report feeling something as ill-defined as “Covid fog” or as frightening as numbed limbs. They’re unable to carry on with their lives, exhausted by crossing the street, fumbling for words, or laid low by depression, anxiety, or PTSD.
As many as 1 in 3 patients recovering from Covid-19 could experience neurological or psychological after-effects of their infections, experts told STAT, reflecting a growing consensus that the disease can have lasting impact on the brain. Beyond the fatigue felt by “long haulers” as they heal post-Covid, these neuropsychological problems range from headache, dizziness, and lingering loss of smell or taste to mood disorders and deeper cognitive impairment. Dating to early reports from China and Europe, clinicians have seen people suffer from depression and anxiety. Muscle weakness and nerve damage sometimes mean they can’t walk.
“It’s not only an acute problem. This is going to be a chronic illness,” said Wes Ely, a pulmonologist and critical care physician at Vanderbilt University Medical Center who studies delirium during intensive care stays. “The problem for these people is not over when they leave the hospital.”

My concern is they preach analytics and then operate like a team that’s never heard of it.
Apart from Staal and Hall which of course doesn’t take analytics to figure out. - Pegullaville

They are literally depth players for 800K. Both will be in Rochester or healthy scratches. We got them for pennies. So not a big deal

Remember when we were in High School and we had to do Public Policy reports? The COVID reports are bound to be the most partisan of them all. |

Cuomo has been critical of the federal government's response, and was writing his own playbook from Day 1. If you're going to do that, for better or worse, you can't sit there and claim you were just following the Federal Government guidelines as a cop out when it's convenient. The fact is, different states handled nursing home populations differently. New York, Michigan and others screwed up, and only have themselves to blame.
Point 2 assumes 100% of the population will get the virus, which isn't anywhere near the case. A large portion of the population is inherently immune, as with any other disease, pandemic or no pandemic.
I also never said anything about wearing a mask or herd immunity. I wear a mask everywhere I go, mainly because no business will let me inside its doors without one. And that's pretty much been the case anywhere I've gone in Western New York, and I've been pretty active since the reopening. If that's a compromise I need to make to get back to as close to normal as possible, so be it.
As far as herd immunity goes, the virus hasn't been around long enough to know if it's a viable option or not.
Different states have had different approaches to this thing, some more stringent, others more lax, and the virus has found its way into all populations. Once it came to our shores, it was always a matter of "when", not "if". - buffalofan19
quick point before i drop it...regardless of the idiocy (real or not) of cuomo, the point i was trying to make is that nyc was the first area to get hit on a large scale in early spring when many people spent time indoors and there was little known about the virus...
that said, the rest is well stated and i'll leave it at that |

I don't know how I feel about Irwin. As a 7th, and (capable?) PKer, fine.
This org seems to have a chub for 'fit' unlike Jason. If they see his skill set to fit with offensive potential (plenty of winger options inc. Reinhart, Thompson, Olofsson, Skinner) and help him get to his Vegas quality

So far, a 60 game schedule is proposed, divisional only play, back to backs in the same arena. |
