It was a poster named rrentz who threw out the 99.98% survival rate figure, not me nor any of the rest of us. His exact quote a couple of pages ago: "Covid survival rate, as per CDC is 99.98 for majority of population and 94.6 for those with underlying conditions and older then 69 yrs."

My comments were simply to correct your incorrect perception of percentages and fractions. What exactly is 99.98% of 350m? It's 70,000 not 7,000,000 as you've stated multiple times. Simple arithmetic.

But you already know that by now so you are changing the dialogue to cover yourself. Do yourself a favor and avoid rewriting what I wrote. That's lame.

Moving on, the misuse of simple math (on purpose by some I imagine) is probably what's used by politicians, bureaucrats, political partisans, political hacks, the news media, etc., no matter the political stance.

No wonder the world has problems.

CDC's #'s aren't wrong, the numbers being reported to them are faulty. The number of 250k deaths are inflated. Hospitals are being given tens of thousands of $$ for every Covid related death. The hospitals elective surgeries are how they make money, and are only able to do a small fraction of what they usually do. They are going broke. It should be obvious that hospitals are testing every patient that dies for Covid, and if they tested positive, regardless of true cause of death, then that person is listed as a Covid death, hence artificially raising the Covid death total.

The US has one of the lower mortality rates in the western world, lower than Canada.

https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/mortality

All the western nations are hovering around that 2 - 3% mortality rate. Are they all inflating their numbers?

And you can disagree. Kinda like having a support the troops license plate but being unwilling to take any measures to help the society you live in. It's your right to be a piece of sh!t too.

lol wow you have an out for everything hey?

There is a fine line between being a POS and seeing things realistically.

It might do you some good to figure out the difference between the two.

I'm simply pointing out the flaws in the US. One reason that that the US mortality rates are lower then most nations in the WEstern Hemisphere is b/c the health care is better? With the exception of Canada, isn't that expected?

There’s lots of suspicion and mistrust out there, especially in the US. The numbers seem similar around the world so I think we can assume if we don’t take this thing seriously and don’t get it under control it’s going to unnecessarily kill a lot of people.

I think the real question is why is it being made a political issue and not a healthcare issue? Doesn’t that interfere with an unified approach to defeat it?

EVERYRHING is political, which is why gov't is too big already! I don't care which side of the aisle you are on, ALL politicians are out for themselves, and will do whatever it takes to ensure their own re election.

My bad. The mortality rate is between 2-3% and that’s pretty consistent around the western world. Not .02% as was argued. I should have said multiplier, not percentage. My focus is on the potential 7M deaths in the US which we all can agree is a crazy number.

Most people do take it seriously, but the problem lies where the rules and restrictions make NO sense, and they are just some arbitrary measure to make it look as if they are making us safer. It's insulting and taking away from our freedoms and liberties.

Example---My son is 6 years old and is allowed to play soccer games. At the end of each game, they have to stand on opposite sides of the field and wave/say "good game" to the other team. So they can run into each other and touch each other for the entire game, but giving a high five or a fist bump at the end of the game is dangerous? !!!

Its simply because we are so sick and tired of WOKE being shoved down our throats at every possible avenue.

True, but do you think the lack of clarity on what to do is because we’ve never been faced with a pandemic like this since the 1916 influenza outbreak? None of our political or healthcare leaders have a playbook on this. No step by step plan exists. We are trying to understand how to beat it together. If some “liberties” have to be forsaken temporarily to get this under control isn’t it worth it?

It’s frustrating for sure but I’ll put up with it for the benefit of the next big pandemic. Because of this experience we’ll be ready for the next one as we’ll know what to do and not to do.

Most Canadians are not able to understand what goes on in the USA because of the biased news media and limited interactions with actual Americans in the USA.
