One thing that really bothers me about this continuous discussion (no matter the site it appears on), is that those quoting a small death rate for the younger portion of our population seem to ignore the fact that an alarming number of infected are experiencing long term effects.

If we discover years from now that say 20% of people infected with COVID lose an average of 10 years of their life (due to increased risk for heart disease or CPOD, etc), shouldn't that change how you think about this? Particularly when we are so close to a vaccine.

Why would you gamble with your future health when you don't have to and we have a solution incoming?

Speak to someone who has chronic health problems. They'd trade anything for their health back.

I don’t see how the NHL, or any league that isn’t already playing at the moment could/should start up any time soon! I think it would be irresponsible by the governing leagues to do so. Given spikes all across the world, players being at their respective homes around the world, having them travel back to their team cities, quarantining, etc. I just don’t see how they can do it. It looks very likely that a vaccine will be available in the next few weeks/ months. Why not wait and plan on starting in October of 2021?! As much as I love the game and the bubbles worked well, I couldn’t watch a 48 game season plus playoffs without the best fans in sports in the arenas!

Yes, it does protect everyone by reducing the chains of transmission, there's no question about that. You can be carrying the virus and not know it. And if you have asthma, for your own sake you should be social distancing as much as possible. And if you're not wearing a mask, it's ignorant and irresponsible of you to not social distance.

Yep, I know someone who has struggled with various distuutbing health problems for six months since getting Covid, and she's in her 30s. The long term effects are unknown and what we've seen so far is not something you want, or wantvto inflict on others.

The silver lining of this thing is we now know the people who were such ignorant, selfish jagoffs that wearing a mask was too much to ask of them. Good to know.
