I have a few friends who are members of the RCMP along with some retired ones. I've been told things in confidence on more than one occasion that are troubling. I'll be the first to say they have a tough job, but at the same time believe there are some serious deep rooted culture issues that start at the top.

This hits home for me. My Dad was 30 years RCMP and has recently passed away. He was never racist treated and trained his female RCMP officers great and treated minorities extremely well. I owe him everything and the see blanket comments like that is utter bullsh!t. I expect better but am not shocked.

i have a cousin (younger by 15ish years). he went to university. joined the military. is now rcmp. first posting was in sask and now out here.

he has very, very low opinions about both those organizations.

in his view, both organizations are rotten from the inside out but they won't be changed because the people in charge don't want the negative sh!t to land on them.
