Has anyone already heard the Shayne Gostisbehere to Chicago for Dylan Strome rumor?

So in other words, there is likely nothing to it.

Thanks....

A few notes . The one source was Eklund. The other article suggested Strome + for Ghost? Lol....a third overall pick only 5 years ago, that has already had some success in the NHL...if I’m the Flyers I do this all day long. If I’m Chicago I ask for more then Ghost.

I like it too. They need a big who can spell Embiid some minutes. Howard looked alright in the bubble. For one year in a vet minimum contract, why not?

Absolutely. And we know what a hit it is to the team when Embiid goes out. I like the move.

Random musings about Voracek on a slow day:

When Voracek is in beast mode, he is a possession demon. Sometimes, he goes along the boards in a counter-clockwise direction, and comes back around the net the other side. A few times, it is almost a 360 cycle, a la Foppa. Unlike the great Swede however, he always has the puck on his backhand in such cycles, and never manages to turn around to his forehand, let alone go to the net. Given how far away he is from the net, and given his aversion to flinging the puck towards it, the opposing D is content to let him do his perimeter thing.

Once again, this seems to me something that could be solvable by having him play left wing. Now, I know if something as obvious as this is not being done, there must be very good reasons for it, but in some of his most effective shifts, he is circling the net keeping puck between body and boards anyway, but if he is able to do it on his forehand, once he comes back out the other side his vision should be a lot better to make a play towards the goal.

Voracek was the reason why I wanted the Flyers to re-sign Jagr after the 2012 season. I thought Jake could have learned so much more from his presence outside of a year.

I remember Elias saying after that horrendous 2012 series that he thought Voracek was going to be a great player or something like that. Even given the fellow Czech boosting, I have to confess I am disappointed the way his career has turned out here. I expected more, especially after the first half of the '13 or was it '14 year when he was on pace to a 120 point season.

"NHL insider" Eklund lol

Strome isnt exactly the bell of the ball himself. Below average skating, iffy defensively, not the most competitive either. And due for a substantial raise that he'll probably fail to live up to.

Make no mistake, if it happens, it's a problem for problem trade. The 'Hawks don't want a $4-5M 3C, just like Ghost would be too expensive to be a third pair D.

This is just a regurgitation of the same argument you tried to make with Giroux. You're stuck in a rut. Voracek can play both wings but again, same thing as you were told concerning Giroux. His stick will have a better angle to the ice and the net playing the right side as a LH shot. You want him to change sides based on a play that only happens occasionally. Again, not well thought out.

All good points...but I still don’t see Chicago going straight up. The contract Strome seems to want does seem like an overpay.

Jake is super talented....I am always left wanting more of it on a consistent basis. I remember some of his games for the Cheq’s national team where he’s the best player on the ice and you think to yourself “where’s that game for the Flyers?”...When someone is that talented the expectations are always higher. I’ve learned to temper my expectations with him. There are nights where he raises to that star level. Then there are nights where he really poops the bed.
