So in Ek to reality terms... vegas and washington win their respective divisions and Sorokin will end up being a bust.

Not sure what you were smoking when you wrote this but Vegas will be even stronger with the additions of Pietrangelo and Lehner, how can they not be. As for the Caps I wish it was true but Samsonov will easily replace Holeby and still lots of aging firepower good for another year. Sorokin has to beat out Varlamov and unless Varlamov is traded to Chicago the games played will be fairly equal. Sorokin will be awesome I am sure but not so fast. I think you got the Russians mixed up, you meant Shesterkin from the other New York team, haha

It will not be neck and neck. Shesterkin will run away with it. |

Once the Oilers sign Haula, and then flip him for MAF, then Vegas will be even deeper.
As for Sorokin, why stop at the Calder and Vezina? Why not the Hart and Conn Smythe too? I mean have you seen his YouTube videos? |

My prediction:
The Nashville Predators will win their Division.
Forsberg and Johansen will score more than 30 goals a piece.
On Ek's Predictions:
1. Maybe. I hate to say it, but as a fan of this team from day one I have seen doom in the forecast since the organization let Gallant go. I believe that was a big sign that the philosophy of the franchise had changed from the inside out. Vegas's Roster is now very telling of that. However, I think we will see the talent that is there still keep them in the running so I am on the fence on this. Maybe.
2. I will disagree with you EK, I still think the team is designed to win and it hasn't changed much. I think the competitiveness of the Capitals is even stronger now with Lundqvist in the room.
3. Ilya Sorokin, joining the ranks of Belfour, Barrasso, Brimsek, and Esposito.
Kay... wacky but okay...okay... Predicting a goalies effectiveness is insanely difficult. SO I am going to back you on this one. Islanders are going to be sneaky good. If this is the case.

I think a goalie has a shot at this, but it’ll be Shesterkin.
Maybe that isn’t wacky, I guess. Solid upcoming team ahead of him, and he’s shown short term he can handle the NHL |

1. leafs miss the playoffs in an all canadian division, making their fans happy they dont have to endure another letdown in the first round.
2. the first six teams in an all canadian divion are separated by less then 8 points by the end of the season.
3. i only had 2 predictions. |

1. Vegas is still a contender, so nope...
2. Many teams looked old in the bubble and many partied too much and didn't take it that seriously. You can't judge a team for what it was in the bubble playoffs. They are aging but will be in the playoffs.
3. Calder, who knows, but Vezina, nope... Youtube videos (against weaker competition) mean nothing. |

Washington will be great as is every team the first year Laviolette takes the helm coupled with a Vezina finalist performance from Samsonov. |

My predication that for sure will happen. The covid vaccine will have a higher death rate than the actual virus itself. |

I predict Gaudreau, Malkin, Doughty, Keith, Toews, and Eichel will all be traded this year. And we could see RFA wars as the season approaches. Also, doubleheaders. |

1) Vegas will be a playoff contender for the next 4-6 years easily. I have to disagree here.
2) NJ will be better than most analysts put them pre-season. The Blackwood/ Crawford combo will be the best goaltending duo in the NHL, enough to squeak them into the playoffs. But Washington in my humble opinion still has it. They aren’t missing the playoffs. Carlson had his best season ever last year pre-covid. Ovi showing no sign of slowing down. They will be there next year.
3) Maybe. Good chance. I’ve heard nothing but spectacular things about this kid. I was thinking he would be a sleeper in fantasy so don’t write too much more about him. I agree they won’t name him starter immediately, but I think he takes over the isles net very early on in the season as well. That division is going to be stacked with great goaltending. |

Maybe. He does seem to do that. I was expecting them to fade slightly, although still be strong.
Lavy could have a solid impact on guys like Vrana, and will keep Wilson hungry. |

Unless Lafreniere totally folds or is hurt he will win the Calder. Not a shot in hell the hockey writers don't give it to this kid. Im a Rangers fan so there is bias here but I don't see the hockey community at large giving it to a Russian goalie over one of their own Canadian darlings. It would make them all look stupid for hyping him for the last 5 years if he doesn't win. |
