As my father, a navy man, told me as a young boy...

“Bravery is not the absence of fear, it doesn’t mean you’re not afraid, it’s the ability to recognize fear, push it aside....and do it anyways. Actively participate in saving your own life. Keep moving forward, never quit, and you’ll be fine.”

I'm more into being healthy then relying on modern medicine to keep me from dying of preventable illnesses. Great quote though.

Thanks Carol.

Love BIG IDEAS like that Gem.

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

?
A healthy person in my demographic doesn't die from the flu, period.

99.9 percent of people who died from covid had underlying health concerns.
90 percent of those admitted to the hospital had something as simple as a vitamin D deficiency.
40 percent of Americans have avoidable underlying health concerns, such as obesity.
But people don't want to be healthy, they want a magic pill or needle to fix everything for them so they don't need to get off their scooter at wall mart or stop eating their daily double big Mac, people need to take accountability of their bodies, poop be ridicules.

Save medicine for boner pills and hair loss shampoo.

(You can get a flu shot and still take good care of yourself)

That kind of self focused thinking is why the Covid situation has gotten so bad. No, you're not likely to die from the flu, but if you don't get it, maybe you won't spread it to someone who will die from it.

It’s the first time I have ever gotten one, but I work closely with a large staff of relatively young people and can’t afford to be off work for two weeks if I get a sore throat. Just takes one variable out of the equation.

Hearing that NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr and NHL commissioner Gary Bettman haven't spoken since last Thursday. Which speaks to how the players feel regarding the NHL's salary deferral/escrow asks. Still time to salvage this, however. I think next week is important.

I started getting them a few years ago because I'm immune compromised and haven't had a flu or cold since.

Do you get a drivers license to operate your vehicle?
Do you get insurance for said vehicle?
Do you stop at red light/Stop signs at intersections?
Then do you wait for the light to turn green before proceeding?
Do you slow down in school zones?
Do you get safety tickets for your job?
Do you evacuate a building when an alarm goes off?
How about wearing some form of clothing at a beach on a hot sunny day?
When traveling, out of country do you take a passport with you?
When an emergency vehicle with lights and siren blaring is coming do you pull over to the side of the road?

If you answered Yes to any of these questions, then you are a sheep, as all of these situations are government or government body rules/law.

Well, at the risk of being pigeonholed, you're wrong on so many levels.
First, it's not a carrier vaccine, it doesn't stop you from getting and transmitting the virus, it allows your body to recognize and create antibodies bodies so that you don't get as sick.
It's also between 20 and 40 percent effective, herd immunity requires 70 prevent of the population to be effectively vaccinated, therefore the flu vaccine will not prevent the spread.

It's probably not worth going deep on this conversation, but it is the case that if you're not coughing/sneezing/sweating because you're not sick, the risk of transmission goes down, regardless of whether you can still carry the disease.

Yes the rate of effectiveness can vary but in my mind that has very little bearing on whether or not it's worth getting. It's such a simple thing to do and whether you think you're at risk or not you could be helping someone else out.

I've mentioned this before on here, but I could've been saved from one of the worst flus of my life which resulted in me going to the hospital so they could give me an IV and morphine if I had gotten the flu shot that year. I got that flu while healthy and in my 20s. I was never at risk of dying or facing long term damage, but I sure as hell would've preferred to not have to go through it.
