Bill I had mentioned this earlier in the year, using Provorov in similar fashion as Tampa does with Hedman. I don’t know the exact breakdowns but he seemed to play with almost every defender on his team through out the game.

Cant wait to watch arguably the worst defenselessness in the NHL get regular minutes yet again by this coaching staff.

Would you prefer Ghost flopping like a fish on the ground while the other teams score?

Ghost needs to be traded. He just isn't the same player after the knee injuries. Turns over the puck all time and doesn't make the same offensive impact as in his first two years.

If the Flyers are keeping Ghost and Gus in the same lineup, having Provy take longer shifts when needed on defense for Ghost makes sense.

I think the Sanheim for Nylander trade rumor is a fair deal and fills voids for both teams.

Next season Flyers defense would look like...

Provy - Myers

Ghost - Braun

Hagg - Gus

I prefer they play the best players. Not to much to ask for.

Well what team is going to trade for him? If he isnt the same player, doesn't make the same offensive impact, and turns the puck over. What team wants a player like that?

All the talk about Ghost being traded potentially, but no one is apparently considering that the defenseman that might get traded is Myers; he is still unsigned which seems odd to me given this first contract should pretty much be set by the market.

Well then someone should tell Ghost to step up, he hasn’t strung together any consistent hockey in a long time. Whether it’s injuries or confidence it hasn’t been good.

I’ll lose my poop if we trade Sanheim for Nylander.

So we are trading our only right handed legitimate defenseman? The season isn’t even guaranteed yet, no need to panic, he will get signed.

I'm begging Fletcher not to make this trade. It would be a huge mistake.

The defense you listed would put a 2nd year player in a top pairing role followed up by two 3rd pair level defense pairings.

There is little chance of that happening. That is putting way too much weight on the fact that Myers has not signed yet.

Will anyone be shocked if Niskannen comes back around the trading deadline? Plays half a season for one more run.

If Fletcher trades Sanheim for Nylander it should be the last transaction he ever makes for the Philadelphia Flyers.

I personally do not see him doing it. So far he has shown that he understands the value of the young players on the roster.

You're correct. It would be a sign of incompetence.

I don't think that is going to happen however I do think that if we ever get past this pandemic, there is a possibility that Niskanen resumes his career.

This will be a shortened year and personally, I would be happy letting it play out with the current roster (no trades or acquisitions). I just think that objectively that deal is fair. For the Flyers, they get offense with a positionally versatile two-way forward just entering his prime, remembering they have Zamula and York soon. For the Leafs, they get a top 2-3 two-way defenseman entering his prime who can play the right side. They won’t be a threat anytime soon unless they get a lot better on defense. They have enough offense.

If Ghost stays, I am interested in seeing if his 100% health allows him to regain some of that level of play we saw from his "good seasons".

Provorov Myers
Sanheim Gus
Ghost Braun
Hagg

I am ok allowing this to happen. Let them play ten games and see what happens. make changes as injuries or play dictate, but let them play.

As for trading Sanheim for Nylander? No way in hell do I do that. It not only weakens the defense considerably, but puts us dangerously close to cap hell. So another player would also be heading to Toronto.

Now if its Ghost +, I would consider it. But Toronto wouldn't do that.

There is much you aren't considering. The Flyers have a major hole on defense. They are not in a position to trade a highly talented young quality two way defenseman. You're forgetting all the years the Flyers suffered and had to overspend to add defenseman due to not drafting and developing defenseman well. You aren't considering that making that trade creates a bigger hole where there already is a hole. You aren't considering that a quality two way puck moving defenseman is a far more important player that a scoring winger. I could go on and on.
