Bringing this over from the last thread regarding Lee as a top line winger.

In the last 5 seasons Lee ranks 28th among all forwards right under Eichel and Laine with the others on the list being a pretty impressive group of scoring forwards.
I would say he's fine as a 1st line winger. Out of the 62 in the NHL there are plenty that don't score as much as Lee does.
In the last 4 seasons Lee ranks at #14. I don't see any issue with him skating on my top line.

Lee's numbers are even more impressive when you take the Centers out of that list.

As far as Greene is concerned it's sounds like He is already signed but they are not going to Paper it until Barzal situation is worked out. This will prevent them from getting into offer sheet trouble with Barzal. Bother Martin and Greene are a done deal though... I wonder if Barzal is done too but will not be registered until they are allowed to put Ladd and Boychuk on LTIR day 1 of season.

As far as Lee is concerned I always find it amazing how critical Isles's fans are of their own talent. When Moulson was on the team scoring over 30 a year everyone was critical of his lack of 2 way play, or his lack of speed. My point was always the same... scoring goals in the NHL is friggin hard to do.. these goalies are insanely big and insanely good. When a guy has the ability to score that is a very big deal. Lee scores a lot of goals. He tips puck in the net, he screens the goalie and he takes a beating putting the puck in the net. That is a very big skill set. .. would I be happy if the Isles got another elite goal scoring wing like Hoffman? Sure... but I am also hopeful that some of our younger players will turn into that type of scorer. (beau, Whalstrom, Holmstrom, ..etc.)

A lot of Isles fans under rate the Isles players. I think I prefer that to the teams that swear they'll win the cup every September and every signing is the last missing piece.

There is one particular team and it’s fans that comes to mind when I read this.

Again, it’s like starting a whole different argument. I never put down Lee. He has been doing his job with the Islanders . Can’t complain. My only point was they haven’t had an elite, all time , number 1 scoring winger in years. I know they don’t grow on trees. I know lots of teams don’t have them. I know it’s even more difficult to get one and have a winning team. But it’s not impossible. Lee is the best the Islanders can do at this point and that’s fine. I hope he continues to do what he has been doing for years to come. But the fact still remains they haven’t had an elite winger in forever. Maybe that’s not what Ben was getting at but that’s what I was talking about. And if he was on the Rangers I would hate him and say he sucks.

I can't imagine what team that could be.

The Ranger fans used to be like that years ago. Not so much anymore.

I bet the Boychuk news sent Roeper into a fiery rage. Hopefully he's ok.
