Ek has had Johnny Hockey on the trade block for 4 years now. He has a long way to go to reach Malkin status. Currently he's entering the Iginla/Forsberg/Sundin/Kessel zone.

Rumor has it Calgary needs to move Johnny Hockey because Zac Rinaldo is at peak and ready for 1st line LW.

Wow. Ek reported Gaudreau would be on the move months ago. We all thought that was dead, but obviously he was right if there are 6 teams involved. I wonder if something might be brewing with Barzal. It makes a lot of sense. Gaudreau ends up in NYI which is close to his home, while Barzal ends up in Calgary which is a 75-minute flight to his home in Vancouver. Calgary will need to add something though.

I'm a little confused why Vegas would deal MAF though. Lehner just had major surgery so MAF will need to carry the load. Are you saying that when Lehner is healthy, they would deal MAF, and get one of Edmonton's inferior goalies coming back. Why would a legit Cup contender like Vegas downgrade in quality at the trade deadline?? So if Lehner experiences a setback then the Cup hopes are over. Not sure this makes much sense. Although Ek did predict Vegas would be missing the playoffs, so perhaps I'm just over-estimating their status as Cup contenders. But again, if his sources keep bringing this up then discussions must be still taking place.
