Jeff Paul: West Division Preseason Predictions With a shortened season and division realignment, the playoffs are more up-for-grabs than ever before. The Vegas Golden Knights will firmly be a playoff team once again.

Time to stoke the fires on a MAF trade!
Better yet, a Marchessault to Detroit for Choloski + a5th trade!!!

Having a hard time hating either idea. Fleury probably won’t go due to a lack of depth at the position, unless they save enough cap to sign a cheap #2.

Good primer for the upcoming season for the Western division by you Jeff. As mentioned rivalries should be amped up in this format and that includes the rivalries in the other divisions too. Look forward to January 13th start of the season and keeping up with your Knights articles and opinions on them .

Jeff-You have the Kings ranked too high. 😂

Solid predictions. Avs/LGK will be an epic showdown. Wouldn’t be shocked to see the Sharks get that 4th spot.

So Vegas got rid of two big players to fit Petro and Lehner. Some players weren't happy. A new big contract and a new team usually spells trouble in the first season especially since the Knights already have a number one.

That center depth will become an issue.

Arizona seems to compete every game. I don't know how you have them listed so low. The Sharks biggest killer has been goaltending and goaltending is voodoo. I'll also say playing an old guy significant minutes hurt them. Being free of Joe who is smart but slower than the average beer leaguer should have an effect on the roster.

Binnington didn't have a bad year and he played the tough games. Allen played sheltered minutes. This is a guy a couple of years ago the Blues paid to stay home and was out played by Carter Hutton. His only good showings besides one play off series have been as a back up competing for ice time. So trying to make a non-issue a thing is ridiculous. Unless you are having recency bias and actually put anything serious into the bubble.

This(the Blues) is the same team that destroyed the Sharks that eliminated Vegas in the first round two years ago.

Arizona lost too much talent up front without adding and since this, shipped out Stepan. I think they’re phoning it in this season. Shame for Kuemper and Raanta who are beauties.

It’s possible. They struggled offensively, didn’t add to the offense (subtracted Stastny) and seem to have the same lineup for this season (Glass or Stephenson at 2C). Tuch stuck on L3 is an issue and I’d like to see them try him on the left side with Reilly Smith on the right or vice versa.
