I never liked the East/West format after the previous lockout. They should have just done 4 geographic divisions, teams could have moved easily with the expansions.

North: Buffalo, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Ottawa, NYI, NYR, New Jersey

East: Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Washington, Florida, Tampa Bay, Carolina, Detroit

Central: Chicago, St. Louis, Colorado, Dallas, Winnipeg, Nashville, Minnesota, Calgary

West: LA, Arizona, San Jose, Anaheim, Vancouver, Edmonton, Las Vegas*, Seattle*

Aside from the "East" division, which has none, you have at least 2 Canadian teams each for those Canadian rivalries, Calgary/Arizona jump from West to Central for the Las Vegas and Seattle expansions and if Florida moves to Quebec, you can swap Philadelphia out for them easily.

I like the Columbus/Pittsburgh and Columbus/Tampa Bay rivalries better than any of their past or present rivalries. Maybe because they have been a much more competitive team over the past several years as opposed to when they were rivals with Chicago/Detroit/Nashville but let's be real - Those were not good memories.

In all honesty, I really don't like the match-ups for Columbus this season. I love the additions they've made to the roster via trades/free agency, but I question the goaltending and the team's ability to play back-to-back games with their physical style under Torts. The division is a toss-up other than Tampa Bay.

Thomas Townsend: New Division + Schedule Release + PLD signing????

I guess at this point I'm not worried PLD signing, they will get it done, and if JK is a good GM there will not be collateral damage to the team/player relationship.

'Why aren't we signing anyone to help the offense?' is the question I'm worried about.

CBJ will use their prospect depth and make an old fashioned hockey trade to acquire scoring.

Gaudreau, Monahan, Laine, Boeser are all rumored to have been available.
From CBJ Texier, Foudy, Bemstrom, Robinson, Stenlund, Gavrikov, Kukan, Peeke etc

I can tell you straight away that Texier and Gavrikov are gonna be off the table unless the return is substantial.

One guy who hasn't come up in trade rumours but I think would be absolutely fantastic here is Timo Meier, and given the Sharks' situation of not being able to compete for a couple years, that they might be more reticent to prospects as compensation. Or Nikolaj Ehlers

Agreed Timo Meier would be a great get but San Jose would want a substantial return coming back (Texier Plus a first to get that convo started).
Ehlers is a good player but I would value him behind Laine, Meier, Gaudreau, Monahan (because he is a center) and about equal to Boeser.

sooo professional tryout contract for Del Zotto, not trying to troll here but is Jarmo having a sellers remorse on Murray , seeing Athanasiou sign in LA and Hoffman to the Blues , I'm rather alarmed again at the lack of forward depth (especially without Nyquist).
