Next year.

Unless something happens salary cap wise with the bonuses because of the shortened year, I cant see Miller staying with the team beyond what the allowable time frame will be for 2way players on ELC to not be locked in.

Well, it looks like they will be able to shave some money off of Mika's cap total. I can't imagine he's playing day 1 if he hasn't hit the ice yet.

completely agree w/ your statement re: televising these jan. ridiculous that thenonly video we get is a behind the scratched up glass goalie view.

it seems like ever since the rangers televised the traverse a number of years ago they've gone completely backwards in terms of televising access.

Yeah. They had Traverse and then a complete blackout after that. That I never understood, yeah you have to pay for a camera crew, but you are telling me the teams couldn't pool their money together and just have 2 crews do all the games.

At least they started covering every pre-season game. They used to only do the ones at MSG.

I don't mind it, with no preseason games opposing teams will have no way to scout this current Rangers team now. Don't want to give any secrets away about LAF!

I was reading their is a loophole in the system where players can be moved back and forth between the taxi squad and active roster on off days. So some of the younger guys who aren't required to pass through waivers can "be on the taxi squad" when the team isn't playing. They won't be making the full NHL salary that way. And if they were to put a jack johnson or Smith on it they could get claimed, but I wouldn't see that as a bad thing.

Yeah the no preseason games is why I'm okay with the blackout but MSG is still in the dark with certain fan interactions

Its that the new thing? Are they getting paid per game played this year? Cause that seems pretty crazy that the NHLPA would accept that.

I'm not sure I am understanding you correctly, but they always break up salaries into per game allotments so that any game missed on IR comes off the total against the cap. I wouldn't think this season is any different in that regard.

edit: or maybe it's per day, not per game. I forget.

Just seems odd to me because I always thought guys get paid regardless.

They do.
But, while on IR they I believe they are paid through some sort of health insurance process. Therefore, it doesn't count against the cap.

Where's Jimbo?? He knows all this stuff like TJ knows the tip of his penis!

I don't have a problem with Rangers not televising a SCRIMMAGE, which is just really an amped up practice. Coaches can blow a whistle at any time to make a teaching point and shorten the "game" as they see fit. Rangers wound up only playing 40 minutes yesterday, if they had advertised and televised that, guys would be rightly upset.

Look, we're all just anxious fans chomping at the bit for some real hockey, but there's nothing to see here ( literally ) so lets move along...

I wish Vinnie well, but he didn't ever really stand out at the NHL level. Next!
