It’s incredibly simple for those who don’t choose to be dense

- He was an elite scorer with Jack Eichel

- He was overpaid

- The coach now refuses to play him with Eichel

There it is. That’s it.

We ALL, in unison agree he’s overpaid

- sbroads24

Life and I am assuming the NHL is tough, you have to be able to play with more than just Jack to produce or produce in years (well most of) your contract year. Other players have caught heat for producing in their contract year and then falling off Drew Stafford is one. Are you that dense you forgot? Or just dense that you reiterate things like special teams don't matter. go off the rails about the Staal trade before he even plays, still diss on ROR and think that was a good move? I mean the fact you are seldom if ever right makes me think you should leave dense out of you repertoire unless you are looking in the mirror.

Henry has more playoff wins then Allen does.

And if it weren’t for the Colts leaving 6 points on the board there would still be a goose egg there.

Bill's heavily influence higher risk decisions by averaging 47 points over previous 3 seasons.
Frankie believed he needed to be very aggressive and try to maximize each opportunity for points.
It backfired very nicely.

Some of his decision making was paradoxical to me. Punting inside the Bills 50 a couple times but also going for 2 down 14

Again with his 40 goal season Skinner is 29.1 goal per 82 game scorer

Taking out that season he is a 28.01 goal per 82 game scorer

What does this mean? He isn’t just a contract year scorer.

Skinner - Staal - Cozens
Olofsson - Ruistolainen - Samson
Reider - Eakin - Okposo

Who am I missing?

Not sure who YOU are missing, but we are all mourning the loss of Johan Larsson and looking very much forward to having Jeff Skinner on the Taxi Squad.

Right and at that point of the game they were winning 10-7 and a field goal would have put them up 13-7 and they had for the most part dominated that first half.

Leave the high risk decisions for the 2nd half

Arizona did the right thing. Johan Larsson is going to concrete skate them to the playoffs with his defensive responsibilities and his sub-50 FO%.

We shouldn't have signed Jeff Skinner after he scored 40 goals, because that was exactly like when Drew Stafford scored 30 goals.

He's a hot and cold scorer, he is completely one dimensional. If he is not on he is not offering anything. Sometimes tough love makes you a better person. we are stuck with Skinner for the next 6 years. If Ralph can make him a better player away from the puck, it will be a better team and he will be a better player.

But he didn't because of Bill's explosive Offense. He felt he needed TD's not FG's.
That influenced his thinking. So, yes he did leave points on the board because of the above logic...and let's not forget the Bill's D held strong there.

So by taking away what he is best at on the rink makes him a better player?

Holy hell. I guess I’ve been doing it all wrong at work. I’m going to have my concession stand attendant drive the Zamboni and have my Zamboni driver coach figure skating...

I didn't watch...but Flacco posted a couple of the goal videos...had a nice goal from a beauty of a pass from Jack Quinn.

I can listen to the argument that we’d be better off without Skinner, and using that $ somewhere else now that he have Hall

But saying guys like Thompson or Olofsson are even remotely close to as good as Skinner is a take not set in reality

Yea and Eichel shot 5% with him while he was on his 72 goal pace.

What’s the opportunity cost there ?

Remove Skinner and Eichel leads the league in O-zone possession, scores a career high in goals and has a much better shooting percentage.

Yup, sacrificing 25 goals to prevent 15 is a good way to go for sure.

I couldn’t handle one of those guys playing on the top line if you gave Skinner Staal and Cozens or Staal and Reinhart or Staal and anyone else. But to handcuff him with 2 borderline NHLers is a joke.

When your Zamboni driver hits the boards 50% of the days and only does the job right when he has a good day I would train him to be a concession stand attendant if I couldn't fire him.

Except I proved that to be wrong already but you’re too stone set on thinking you’re right.

But please go on.

My Zamboni driver is paid to cut the ice and he does it well. Jeff Skinner is paid to score goals and he does that well

If I gave my Zam driver a 1950’s machine would he be as good of a driver and make as good of ice as he does with a 2019 model?

Same applies to Skinners line mates

If Tage makes the team, I'd say he'll perform well below average and likely sent down by mid-season or so.

pretty sure everyone but ralph likes the skinner, staal and reinhart combo

it literally solves what the soccer coach was trying to do last season with upgrades in staal and reinhart over johansson and sobotka

playing skinner 17 to 18 minutes a night is a good thing

playing him 9 minutes a night with lazar is a dumb thing

You’re right, Skinner can generate a lot of scoring chances for himself while suffocating the offence of others.

The only ones that matter are the ones that go in the net.

You only see the one thing that Skinner does well and think that is all that is needed for a winning team. If he doesn't buy into the system, then the other players think it's ok to do things the way they want and then you have no system, especially with new and young players coming to the team. Not to mention he is useless when he is not scoring which is often, so when that is the case he has to be bringing something to the table and that is respecting and playing the system until he is on a streak again.
