Well I guess we can agree OVā€™s defensive play has improved and heā€™s a slow learner. Took 2 years after Trotz left for it to sink in. We can only hope Skinner can learn quicker or he will be the best 4th line goal scorer ever and the highest paid.

A 4th line of skinner girgs okposo would be amazing. Too bad girgs got hurt

I remember when MANY here said they wouldnā€™t take OV in a trade here
Granted, that was right after his season where he was -35 (or whatever), but heā€™s always been a hell of a player

Thereā€™s an argument to be made for him being the best goal scorer of all time, even if he doesnā€™t catch Gretzky

Coaches make moves for all different reasons.

You have no idea the situation or motivation that finds skimmer not on the 1st line.

Something is clearly up. Should the coach just bend the knee, because the player is well paid?

54 in 82 points is a 5.5 million $ guy or a 9 million $ guy that cashed in and is clearly not buying into the coaches system.

I'm not privy to info, but it's not as simple as dumb soccer coach, smart Florida referee. Its probably deeper ?

- Boss34

I love how you talk like you know but then come down on others.

If you want to talk about this Florida referee perhaps you should mention my entire resume. But instead youā€™re the defender of the try hards.

You try to be witty with your boo-hoo Kahuns (probably your best work by far)

If you add in Skinners massive year (while playing with Eichel he is a 30 goal 60 point player (still over paid no argument here)

But you still have an organization and a coach that has tried to set up others for success (and the team for failure like Risto getting 23 minutes a night) but we want to try to transform one of the best 5 on 5 goal scorers into a shut down winger?

Explain to me how that makes any sense. Jeff Skinner isnā€™t this 21 year old kid he is a 10 year NHL vet who even the least informed people can look at his career and say yeah heā€™s offense all the way. But this soccer guy thinks he can change his game all of a sudden?

When this blows up (and it certainly will) and the Sabres canā€™t move his contract because he is a 30 point player dragging around his two boat anchors of line mates I donā€™t want to hear the complaints from you.

It's okay, after Ralph buries him in the bottom-6 again this season, he will gladly waive to go to Seattle in the expansion draft.

Botts always gets his man

Even the cap guru (yikes) would make sure the Sabres give up something good for Seattle to take him.

He hasnā€™t announced it but youā€™d have to think heā€™s gonna be done. I mean he is 34 but his body has a ton of miles on it.

He is under contract for one more year though

Tough to see a guy like that retiring while heā€™s still playing well though
Obviously a heck of a competitor

That's one way to look at it šŸ¤”

I really like sam with staal. This could be a comfortable combo. I thought sam and ror were pretty compatible.

Agreed
And Staal is fairly similar to ROR offensively,
so i think weā€™d see good thing out of that pairing

Sam seems like a guy who can fit with pretty much whoever
