my point all along with his linemates was that he didn't have anyone opening up any space for him last year, meaning he was always figure skating into defenders...when he was with jack he had all kinds of room and many here were amazed at his skating ability...

that's why, if ralph really is intent upon moving him down, at least give him cozens who provides an offensive threat even if he's just a rookie

I will break this down piece by piece:

Before Ralph, Skinner did play the PP and did play in OT...remember? His 40 goal campaign yeah he played both under a different coach and he produced and produced well

The Skinner doesn't play defense narrative is why Ralph is putting him on the 4th line, yet he is playing our rookie with someone who not only doesn't play defense well, he does it worse than Skinner

As far as the player needing to follow the coaches game plan, sure Skinner does need to follow the system, however a good coach puts his players in the best situation to succeed.

AND for the last time you cannot take out his $9 million salary. It's there, it is part of the equation and in fact a huge part. He is not less detrimental by getting less minutes. Ralph is taking away Skinner's biggest asset which is his ability to produce 5 on 5

How about the last year and a 1/2? Last 100 as opposed to the first 40? Obviously approximations, but , what have you done for me lately?

Also: okposo makes 6 million, should he play more, because of his salary? Last year he would have been a 1st liner?

Matt moulson should have just played "thru it" with nhl ice time equally his contract?

These examples admittedly suck, but you get the idea.

I still think they need to hug it out? Maybe he owes some good play, before getting promoted? Skimmer really was underwhelming last season.

Okposo and Moulson both got paid because they could score, then they couldn't and Okposo figured out how to contribute to the team.

Skinner still can score, in fact his 5 on 5 goals in a shortened season still showed that in fact with a lot less ice time and no reason quality line mates at all he still was on a 20 goal pace (82 games).

Like I have been saying all along, if you take the entire 40 goal season out his total equation he still averages 28 goals per 82 games

Bad overall as Skinntag has been over the past 60-80 games, he still is one
Of our best producers even strength. Not 9mil worthy, but sure as shart not 4th line worthy.
Even the most elite athletes will become mentally defeated by being demoted and demoralized for this long

What I don’t understand is why this is all the coach’s fault and no one says the player has to be better for $9 million. Why does Skinner get such a pass? He’s not some 3-time Cup champion?

I too love to say the winger that has scored more 5v5 goals than MacKinnon, Tavares, Patrick Kane, Pastrnak and Panarin since 2016 is a third line winger at best that needs to earn his roster spot.
