It has worked for the Bills pretty well in "following the process" instead of everyone doing their own thing and playing haphazardly. But, Skinner is a figure skater so let him do his thing.

Can someone really show me he’s doing his own thing though?

Like seriously

But Risto makes the same boneheaded move over and over again and gets 20 mins a night

Good point. Every coach in my career and now in my kids careers have favorites.

He's not. It's bullpoop.

Ralph is like most coaches who pick a player to hammer on with every team they coach.

Very rarely does getting in a p!ssing contest with a high paid player does a coach win. It’s so weird seeing this unfold.
- Stripes77

Especially when the player is signed for so long that we'll probably have a man on Mars by the time he's done

Ralph got 12 goals out of girgensons for starters.
I like how eichel broke out under Krueger , not sure if that was inevitable. Probably with eichels talent?

Good point though, Ralph is really an unproven 25th overall coach. I like him but....

- Boss34

Boss, think about that for a second...
He cut Skinner's production by 25 Goals
Cut Sam's EV goals by 3
Got 9 EV goals from Olofsson
Got 4 more EV goals from Eichel
Got 5 more Goals from Girgs ( I get you threw that in for fun)

Does that seem like a good move?
It certainly isn't the whole story, but a simple way to look at it.
I'd rather have Skins burying set-up from Staal and Reinhart and move Oloffson to 4th line and lose say 4 EV goals rather than 25 again.

NFL where contracts aren’t really a thing and there’s 53 guys

NHL where contracts just don’t go away.

Big difference.

- Stripes77

A team and a concept of winning is very similar in sports and many of you are giving Skinner way too much credit than he deserves if you look at his career stats and not his Jack driven, contract 40 goal year that cooled off in his final 25 games of that year anyway. The human condition is the human condition be it football, hockey or life. Working together works better than within your own framework.

Shouldn't skimmer be bringing some veteran play and goal scoring potential to any line?

- Boss34

did you feel that way when vanek was dropped to the 3rd line with mair as his center?

Don’t worry, when Eichel demands a trade because we’re bad again, we can go get some guys that play within the team principals
- sbroads24

I am waiting for okposo to get a shot with eichel and hall and hear ralph brag about the synergy kyle brings

Right so throw out his 40 goal season.

He averages 28 goals per 82 games

Yup let’s bury him on the 4th line.

Ralph just laid it out, he needs to play more defense...but that's not skinner's m.o...so instead of trying ro maximize his roster in a shortened season within the toughest realigned division in the nhl, ralph is busy proving he's in charge....

Memo to ralph, this isn't international hockey...it's the nhl where there are contracts and cap-hits involved and skinner is here for another seven years at a $9M cap-hit on a team that's up against the ceiling...a team, by the way, that hasn't made the playoffs in nine seasons

Funny thing also is Taylor Hall is famous for playing a very freestyle, not structured brand of hockey too. But Krueger loved him in Edmonton

(frank) no, which is likely why they wouldn't accept Cozens, the 2021 1st, and Olofsson either.

Edmonton threw Ralph in the trash...

The trend it continues.

See how silly that is to go with a “trend” you are looking for.

If the Blue Jackets said they would trade the Sabres Dubois for Cozens, Olofsson, and a 2021 1st, I'd answer yes immediately.
- kingcong39

Probably true, hence why I said "starts with", I assume it would go up from there.
Yet, If I were Sabres GM I don't think I would go for much more...unless one of our 347 2/3RhD Tweeners was included, then I would want some sort of draft pick coming back.

Edmonton didn't have a full season with Ralph and a new GM who wanted his own but sure, Carolina had a long look at Skinner and knew him well. If he was so elite why did they toss him away for nothing?
