Sharangovich also playing on the top PK with Zajac. Definitely been a pleasant surprise, seems like he could be a late bloomer and is finally hitting his stride going back to the end of last season. Hope he keeps it up

I mean, we needed another goalie either way. Whether it was the 3rd goalie for the NHL team or the 2nd goalie for Bing. Comrie is a fine add

Perfect time to say "Doomed" if there was a perfect time. I guess go with the young kids and see what they have. This might be hard to watch though.

Yeah just gotta hope the young kids play well. Everybody knows this team is finishing last in the division so we just gotta hope the young core continues to develop and takes steps forward, atleast making the games fun to watch. Its a pure developmental year, nothing else should matter. Hopefully Bing can make a playoff run too!

Well maybe not doomed.... maybe this is a year for our youngsters to play and set up for next year. In a shortened season the wear and tear on their young bodies will also be half.

Your right, at least we are not playing a bunch of borderline/AAAA NHL players who might made this team a little better now but hurt us for the future. I don't mind losing as much with a bunch of young kids trying to find their spot in the NHL. Hopefully most will find a spot here and not in Bing.

I'm so sick of watching the Devils lose hockey games. {Evaluates opening night line up} Well, it looks like I haven't seen anything yet.

Well, last season was abysmal. Then we got screwed on the draft, from 6,10, 17 to 7,18 and 20 (added insult the Rags got #1 with the 16th best record in the NHL). Next the seven non-playoff teams were supposed to get 2 weeks of extra practice; they eventually got 3 days. Then Crawford retired so late that we cannot adequately address the NHL goalie tandem situation - please don't add to that by burning out Blackwood. This looks like another lost year from a fan's perspective. I can only hope that it is a fundamentally sound developmental year, but I now fear the worst.

Well Mercer does look good and #20 now has the most points in the KHL for someone his age (defender) and from reports has looked good so while it was a reach, he may turn out better than expected.

Would it have been great to be drafting higher sure but so far so good with who we picked

I think even if everyone was healthy, Jack has a breakout year and Crawford didn't retire that we would still miss the playoffs as the division is stacked

It would have been nice to have the additional time to train especially with a new coach but it is what it is

- dmarsden2988

Comrie was a big prospect about 2 years ago then fizzled out. Let's hope he can find his game again. I guess this means that we are currently not in the backup goalie market with Wedgewood/Comrie being our latest additions. Doesn't make sense to snuff out Daws as our top G prospect, so our additions will both serve as backups I assume for NJ and Bing. I guess my hopes for Fleury and a couple 1st rd selections is fading fast.

We only got "screwed" on the draft because our arch nemesis leapfrogged so many teams to get a potential franchise player. It stings yes, but we did win the lottery ourselves, twice.

I would agree that this is a lost year for fans, in that nobody will be expecting much. That being said, its a great year to have few fans filling arena's!!! Haha. We are still poised to be sellers at the deadline, and have tons of cap space going forward. Not all bad news. I am almost more excited to see how the guys do in Bing than I am for our top dogs this year. Our young D prospects could absolutely pop off and turn this club around next year.

There are a ton of positive storylines to focus on for the year that I am not going to complain about hand we are dealt.
-Jack impressing everyone with his play in camp, getting spoken about like a highly touted prospect should... he is going to be very good this year!
-Ty Smith also getting a lot of praise, extremely excited to see him on the ice
-Yegor coming out of nowhere (compared to last summer) to make the squad and putting the puck in the net on top of it
-Holtz /Mercer looking great in their respective play overseas/international
Foote getting a longer look than fans thought he would
-Muk setting records in KHL
-Bahl skating with speed for a kid his size
-Boqvist/Yegor/Kuokka line finding chemistry out of the gate
-Bratt signing
- Murray's back still in one piece!
-Johnsson keeping up with great speed

This is all good stuff! Next year we are going to be knocking on the door as an up and coming team that is lightening fast and exciting to watch. We are headed in the right direction, this year was always going to be part of the rebuild. I cannot wait to watch these guys this year!

But to put it into comparative perspective, the Devils moved from 3 to 1 and 5 to 1; the Devils moved up a net 6 spots. The Rags moved from 7 to 2 and 15 to 1; the Rags moved up a net 19 spots. I think the Rags come out way ahead on their moves up. That is what is depressing. Sorry, in a pissy mood today...

The years we won the lottery there were teams that were way worse than us that deserved it more. I don't care about the Rangers' guys because (frank) the Rangers. I'm glad we got our guys and I'm excited to watch them play.

This team is so bad, even with Nico and Bratt. It’s adding a 2nd line center and 3rd line winger. Woooo.

We could’ve added Josi and Hall and we’d still miss the playoffs.

Watch comrie play for the Tri City Americans in the WHL as a season ticket holder kid was a stud in the dub. Welcome to the team.
