Fourth line has some jump and some good ozone time.
- StLBravesFan

Yes your right I have thought since the tournament Highmore should get some PP time . Mitchell has been good . It going to be a tough season but looking for the bright spots and trying to ignore the rough spots is the best way to get through it .Cheers !!

I think we take our lumps and let them learn.
- NamedSources

They learn best where they have a chance to succeed.

I don’t see that Boqvist is ready to learn to succeed in the Show - give him time to learn in a league where he can grow into success.

Strome scores a ridiculously lucky goal. This is literally the only way the Hawks were scoring tonight.

Who had Strome for the 1st goal?
Bonus if you called ‘from below the goal line on a bank shot’.

The message should be “when the AHL starts, you’re in Rockford”.
- StLBravesFan

I’d be ok with that, there are plenty of young d-men who are hungry for an opportunity. If Kalynuk and/or Beaudin outplay Boqvist then great, they should stay in the show.

Murphy looking like the most steady Dman back there for the 3rd year in a row. Mitchel has been decent and Boqvist still doesn't look NHL ready. I really think the team needs more from guys like Strome and Debrincat.

I think Boqvist is the perfect example of a player who was rushed far to much .

Not forever on Boqvist - I haven’t given up on him - there are glimpses of possibilities - just now, he seems way overmatched.

Against VGK last August, we saw how far they need to go to play with the Knights.

Tonite, we see how far they need to go to play with the Bolts.

Not just 5-0: TB is controlling the play all over the ice - easy exits and entries (the Hawks can’t do either against them), a forecheck that doesn’t allow the Hawks any transition, Hawks one-an-done on Vasilevsky.

Colliton has work to do.

- StLBravesFan

Everything you said here is true. That said, Colliton also is missing his top two centers - three of you count Soderberg. Hopefully that first line can get going.

Did ya ever take and try to find an iron-clad leave for yourself from a three-rail billiard shot?

Well, ya got trouble....

Come on face it D it’s easier and more fun getting your blood pressure up and sitting on the ledge than it is putting things in perspective. The fact the team is rebuilding with a number of very young inexperienced players with some injuries to two of the Hawks best players. This year, and probably next season the hawks won’t be competitive. As a fan I set my expectations from expecting a dominant winning team to watching the team rebuild.
- paulr

Most people wanted a teardown for the rebuild in order to get a top 5 pick. Pretty sure we'll be picking there with the remaining Core members on the team, albeit some not playing.

Dach was definitely a good pick and huge building block and another top 5 pick or two should help.

How funny would it have been if they took the goal away because he kicked it to start the play.

JC definitely playing everyone. Defense TOI was almost even across the board. When was the last time Keith barely hit 20 minutes?

I’d rather let him marinate in the AHL than take lumps in the show, you can ruin a good young player by bringing him up too soon. Boqvist should have been in the A last year, and maybe he would be more advanced this year.

You kno I can only take so much of this bashing from a random guy hiding behind the internet/his keyboard. Constantly talking trash. Taking shots.

So I’ve got a question tough guy...would u be interested in saying these things to my face? Just curious? Or are u all talk?

Murphy and De Haan are steady professional defensemen, De Haan was communicating with Mitchell all night. Good first NHL game for Mitchell. Zadorov had too much power play time tonight, not sure he belongs on the power play at all.
Edit: Now box score has him with zero power play time, who knows.

Well that sucked. You knew it was gonna be bad when the mostly nhl team lost the scrimmage. Also when kampf carpenter highmore is your best line in camp.
That line was ok. But there not gonna score at all. Kampf has faceoffs and average d no scoring. The other two just filler.
Suter had two good scoring chances but besides that didnt notice him.
Kane's line wasnt good. Debricat threw some hits which is good but fumbled the puck quite a bit.
Refreshing to see shaw a guy that has push back. The only forward with that in his game. Zadarov looked ok had to cover with boqvist who was a plus 1 somehow. Also stood up for a hawk who got run by maroon. He did turn down a fight from maroon later but at least he gave him a shot.
Gonna be rough few scoring chances and let Tb look like the globetrotters a couple of times.
This season is gonna suck. Hopefully we get something in trades. Get a physical forward back this lineup wont make anyone worry about keeping there head up bit shaw and zadarov.

New blog! The Blackhawks lost the first game of the new season 5-1 against the Stanley Cup champion Lightning. A veteran tried to set the tone with his work ethic and competitiveness while a rookie had a steady debut.
