Great stuff from Patrick tonight. In the 3rd I thought he was flying. Our center depth is enviable

I don’t think I heard Lindblom’s name after making that block. Did he play at all in the 3rd?
- Sublime55

He was scrummaging in front of the net on TKs goal.

Crosby and Malkin will step up Friday. Malkin was invisible tonight.

Lots of video work for the Flyers, it won’t take much for them to see what they need to clean up

- wcorvette

Sounds like we played a bit of a sloppy game, but we GID regardless. I'll take it without having any preseason games as tune-up

To their credit, not just in scoring, they got better in the 3rd period.

It was sloppy...but no pre season games and only a little over a week of camp, that’s to be expected....but If your 4th line can go up against a line with Sidney Crosby on it...that’s silly depth. And that was a match up of choice by Lavy.

Seeing Simmer in a leafs jersey is weird, really hope he has a solid season, except against the Flyers

So you think he will go in to a slump at some point? You are soooo negative!

Missed the game, had to travel for work. Initial impressions outside of the obvious awesomeness of starting the season with a win over the pens??

Ice time against the Crosby line was pretty evenly doled out between all 4 lines.

I thought the team looked exactly the way we all expected. For much of the first two periods we weren’t very good defensively. The first goal for the Penguins was too easy for a wide open man. The Carter Hart mistake but I don’t remember seeing a defender there to support him. However, once we started making sharper passes, the offense really made up for the defense. I think I still have the same concerns heading into Friday’s game, as I did heading into today’s game but that’s opening day. Guys are gonna need time to get their legs under them, especially without preseason.

I didn’t like our second period at all.

Simmer just dropped chariot

Habs big 3 D physically took advantage of the Flyers, glad Simmer did it. Guy was cross checking the hell out of him

While I thought the Flyers forecheck and neutral zone play was lacking early, they were good defensively all game. They limited quality chances for the Pens.
One of the most encouraging signs for Patrick was his play down low, especially late. Sealing off players along the boards and winning puck battles in the D zone.

Really excited about the forward depth. Laughton and Patrick were flying. Now to stay healthy.
