Solid goaltending, boys looked confident, and relatively low event game by the defence. Good start without JT

Clear hook in the hands on the first goal

- CoolerHeads

poop, that’s right. No JTM. That’s very encouraging to think we didn’t ice our best team.

Good thing the Oilers got all that "depth" to play the same two lines the entire game

McDavid is gonna play 25mins a game with this schedule? GL

Good team game tonight, boys played well. Hoglander played really really well, as did Holtby, Schmidt had a much better third period. As for the new guys.
- Pacificgem

Schmidt and Edler 24 minutes. 10:16 for OJ.

Baumy is going to kill the top pair half way through the season.

The guy has a thing, stand in front of the net and when someone touches you, flop.

Matthews took a Weber and Chariot cross check and didn't go down.

Yamamoto looking like fukcing Neymar.

I'd like to see Jake play back on the 3rd line and Zac Mac with Petey and Boeser. Jake doesn't retrieve pucks or play with possession. Not a good fit with them IMO.
- manvanfan

When JTM is back you’ll see JV down on the 3rd or 4th line again. Green’s going to give Hog every opportunity to stick on that 2nd line (and it looks like he belongs there).

I don’t mind JV in the bottom six because he does have a great shot and can put the puck in the net when determined. Do I dare say scoring depth?

Incredible for a forward, although 8:39 of that was on special teams.

Mac hasn’t impressed me at all. 3/4th liner.

Lots of PK time. I guess they're going to ease OJ into that with 4 other vet D that can do it.

Canucks probably have a few smaller holes than most teams.

It’s the one thing Edler is good for... consuming minutes and hard minutes at that.

For the past decade he’s played the toughest minutes, too much ice and he starts to make mistakes.

OJ should be killing more penalties, helping to relieve some minutes from Edler - he's quite good at it - hopefully as the season progresses he gets more trust and opportunity.

He does play on the edge / mean. In a sneaky way. He took a hit from Yamamoto and you knew elder was going to run him (and he did by the benches). TY was quite from that hit on. Beta.
