I was going to post last night Gaudette 1 Turris 0 but didn’t want to jinx it.
- Makita

All the jinxing of Gaudette not doing anything was right on cue.

I know Ruby hates Gaudette but I still really like parts of his game. He's out there and he's trying hard every shift. Problem is that he isn't the fastest or biggest player and he's not the most skilled. He's never going to wow you nightly like Petey.

I think he works hard enough to get his chances and hopefully he makes the most of them when they happen.

That's the funny thing about the proverbial Window of Opportunity. It only stays open for a short time. I think what use to be a 5 year window has now turned to a 3 year one.

Canucks should be ready after this year to make some big moves IMO because I think letting contracts expire after this year is a mistake.

As long as you still draft well and develop, no reason why teams can't be successful for more than 3 years.

Look at Detroit, they made the playoffs like 23 years in a row or something like that and had 4 cups. Eventually it all ends, but we will be competitive for at least 10 years with our current core, and if we can draft well it could go on longer.

I agree, we need to resign Edler and Sutter before their contracts expire!

A lot has changed in the last 15 years. Gretzky also scored 92 goals back then and 212 pts . Don't think we will see that ever again.

The skill level of the players coming into the league now to the bottom teams is much better and then there is the cap where it is impossible to keep your team together for a long time.

Chicago is the closest and maybe last team to do that dynasty . It is no longer the norm.

lol before Holtby get comfortable here we will need to be scoring 4-5 goals per game. Looks like Holtby will be good for 3 per game based off last night lol

The problem for a lot of these teams is they give up too much when the window isn't really all that open anymore and it's never replaced. They hang on to long to what's not working.

Both teams made moves. I haven't seen the Flames play yet this year but a lot of the moves looked lateral. Neither team has the strong core.

Gio is old, Jonny hockey is up and down, Monahan is up and down.

MTL adding size to a team that doesn't have enough elite talent is like adding Gudbranson and thinking he's going to make the difference.
